LOL at delusional BYU fans

Andy Reid will be the BYU coach at some point. Bronco Mendenhall has said that he doesn't watch to coach forever and my guess is that his leaving will coincide with Reid's departure from the NFL.

Name one successful, long-time NFL Head Coach in recent memory (say the last 30 years) who later went on to coach at the collegiate level?

BYU needs a coach that buys into the BYU culture. It's debateable whether that is good or bad for the on-field product.

Pete Carroll. Of course he had to cheat to do it.

Oh miss read the question. Carroll was not all that successful at the NFL level. And neither was Pitt's coach.

I think he's trying to say that successful NFL coaches would never take a college job - which is false at least in this case. BYU has already talked to him about it way back in 2001 when he was going into his 2nd year and he basically told them that he wants to coach at BYU but after he has put in some head coaching NFL time and made some NFL money. The guy absolutely adores BYU. If you go on Youtube and watch the stories about Reid's family and such from the Philadelphia media he's always wearing his BYU polo in the interviews, just one example. It's certainly not something to get too excited about because it's probably at least 5 years away, but it's good to know that he's got their back.

Bronco is in a mess right now and I'd be absolutely shocked if he pulls it together this year. Nothing to me says this is going to be a good season right now. Jerry Sloan/NBA coaches can get away with playing Milt Palacio for half the year because the NBA has 82 games and still have a decent season. It doesn't work that way in a 12 game college football season. You adjust immediately or you have a crappy year. BYU will get absolutely worked on an Independent schedule if they don't play the best talent they have. It's just not the quarterback either, they are doing the same thing at multiple positions right now and it's going to cost them ballgames until they stop.

Yea I kind of got that after the fact. I highly doubt Reid will ever be the coach of BYU. I can't think of a single coach as successful in the NFL as Reid that has then gone down to college. And despite all the wishes of BYU fans it just does not seem as if he is anywhere near taking a step back like that until he just flat out retires. He may not stay at Philly coaches change all of the time but he would be hired by other NFL teams in a heartbeat.
