Looking for all the non-sexists to join in

I understand that saying things like "don't be a *****" reflects inherent sexist mentality in our society, and I think starting a separate thread to discuss it is appropriate. Jumping one someone for using a common idiom in a completely unrelated context is, however, a dick move.

Well women suck at basketball and tend to be moody and irrational (ala DWill) sooooooooooo, I think the poster is correct in his assumption.

Considering 90% of the population wouldn't know what rational is if their lives depended on it (they'd probably start praying), I wouldn't say it's necessarily a female problem.

So, you're saying as long as a sexist comment is not being used in a thread devoted to talking about sexism, it's rude to point it out?

Not at all. I'm just saying people who use these phrases aren't necessarily sexist. I know a lot of atheists who will "point out" the error of using god-related idioms like "god forbid" even though they know very well nobody is making a philosophical statement. I used the phrase "dick move" as an example of a male part being used negatively.
