Punch Bowl Re-Filler
Guess we should have held on to Dee Brown as well. KOC tried to extend Brewer the previous Fall and the team and Brewer's agent were FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR apart on value. Look at what Ronnie has done since leaving. His shooting is abyssmal. And Korver...you mean the guy who refused to shoot in order to preserve his personal record, even though the team needed some offense? They should've kept Korver and Brewer, two of DWill's buddies, who actually complemented each other because of their different skills. They should've gotten rid of Boozer, and if they kept Koufos and KHump, they would've been in good shape. Of course, no Favors or Kanter, so maybe down the road it will pan out. But these last 2 1/2 years have been the wasteland of Jazz basketball for me.
As for Matthews, yes, I wish we still had him. But not at that salary. He's not worth what he's getting. KHump was a bust. He didn't wake up until he was in danger of being out of the league. Koufos? Are you serious? Look at his stats. He's a scrub starting for Denver because they have no one else. And Utah did try to trade Boozer. They tried to have him leave by opting out. There was no market. In essence, KOC traded him for Jefferson. That was the plan all along. KOC had already discussed Al at the deadline. Kahn wanted an additional 1st rounder, which KOC managed to get by trading Brewer.
Jefferson was worth a shot. It wasn't a home run, but it's not like Dwight Howard, CP3 or Carmelo are demanding trades to Utah. KOC has to take chances where he can. Unfortunately, the Jazz have had high draft picks in weak years. Kanter isn't as good as previous top-3 picks. Hayward is serviceable, but not a franchise player you'd like to draft in the top-10. And Favors was a decent gamble but he's developing slowly.
