Loyalty

Highly doubt that's it. I think he goes to Boston even if they dont have Stevens.

Everything he said to the press is what he should say. Boston has a great team, Boston has Stevens, Boston has history, Boston is a great city, yada yada yada.

Real reason: 3 All-Stars left the East and LBJ is rumored to be leaving also. I will get 3 straight All-Star appearances and better offensive numbers in a more uptempo and spread offense. If LBJ leaves, this team will be the favorites to get to the Finals for 2 straight years at least.
I disagree. I think it was all about stevens. They have unfinished business. Stevens is the dude Hayward has been in contact with over the last 7 years for advice and if he needed someone to talk to. I think their relationship is what made him go to boston. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think that the easier eastern conference and Brad Stevens were the top reasons Hayward left, which one is more important to him I'm not sure. As far as Hayward saying what he should say in a press conference that shouldn't surprise anybody, he has always been good at saying the 'right' thing.

I'm disappointed Hayward left the team, but I didn't have Hayward in mind when I was making this thread. He never really showed us much to think he was loyal to the team so I can't hold that against him.

Gobert is the only player the Jazz FO has shown maximum loyalty to. They gave him the max extension w/ basically no bargaining done. They told Hayward to go find a deal because DL was haggling over a million dollar difference from what Hayward wanted.

Gobert was a immensely better player at the time he got his extension than Haywood was. Most considered Haywood a roleplayer like Chandler Parsons.

You forgot that he was going to become second fiddle on a Utah team. Rudy was going to take that guaranteed Utah All Star spot from here on out. Also, I don't think that Hayward cares much for Rudy.

I dont think loyalty is a thing that should be expected/demanded in sports. You can't expect a player to be loyal and you cant expect an organization to be loyal to a player unless there is a long positive history (think Duncan w/ Spurs or Dirk w/ Mavs).

I also think the rise of social media makes loyalty less likely. You can see fans of your team talk **** on you daily where in the past all you would see is the occasional newspaper article.

Dirk waited a very long time for a championship. Duncan gave up money for more championships. Neither had anything to do with long history. Loyalty started short into it an loyalty started with hall of fame players seeing what it takes to win.

Rest you want to talk loyalty? LOYALTY? Take that **** up with Millsap an Favors an Burks an Booker an Korver an every other non all start player. Loyalty is a one way street in the NBA. An now Wade is not with the Heat.

Maybe so, but at the same time did they lose loyalty in the equation with Hayward when they didn't keep Evans? Teams and players have more to think about than straight loyalty, they also have to think about skill, dollars, chemistry, and much much more. Money is not the only sign of loyalty. Hayward was not a sure fire all star in the making at that point. Nobody knew what he would end up being. AK was shown "loyalty" and he and the team got crushed after that.

Loyalty is a moving, living, breathing thing. It is complex, and money is only a portion of it. For some people the $ is 99% of the equation. For others it is only 50%.
DL took a calculated risk on the value of Hayward. He was an unknown still at that point.

Evans was kept waayyyy past the point of him being useful. Jazz showed that dude loyalty.
