so he would be cool with like almost zero minutes? (I don't see cj playing any minutes and booker extremely few)

Definitely, but I don't see that happening. Just think he comes in primarily as a big. Silesian mentioned he played half his minutes at the 5 for Miami - so yeah, my guess is mostly big for Utah and I think that is really where they have a need - at that stretch big.
 
Not calling BS but I don't see this happening. All the middle tier combo forwards will have their options. It would take a huge one year deal or a sizable multi year deal that we'd end up regretting. Why be so conservative and then ruin the flexibility you've built for a declining role player?

I'm just wondering where he fits in.

Favors and gobert still start I assume.

I would figure hood and Hayward start too.

I figure hill or exum starts.

I had lyles as the first big off the bench. Does deng take his minutes?

I had Burks as the first wing off the bench. Does deng take his minutes?

Some of both of those guys?

From last year you dunce lol.

Book played 20.7 MPG and CJ played 12.2 MPG. I bet Book is gone in FA if Deng signs here and Deng gets all of his minutes, and CJ's minutes are all taken by Burks at the 2 and Deng at the 3. That's about 27ish minutes for Deng off the bench

I figure lyles, favors, and gobert take all of bookers 20 minutes from last year (only reason he played 20 mpg is because of injuries to favs and gobert and lyles not being ready early on)
I figure Burks takes all of cj's 12.2 minutes per game (He would have never played if Burks was healthy... Burks hood hayward ingles would have got all those minutes. And now hill and exum take some of those cj minutes too)

I think Lyles minutes would be the biggest impact. Maybe ingles too. Lyles can still get some good minutes backing up the five or at the 4 when Deng plays 3 or with Deng with them at the 4 and 5.

You'd have a second unit of exum, Burks, ingles, Deng, Lyles or you go big, Deng at 3 with Lyles and Withey. I haven't thought through it and could be completely off base, but that's how i see it playing out if he comes.

Yeah lyles gobbles up those minutes and I hope we are a little more healthy in the front court this year. Also hill/Exum indirectly take minutes from the wing. And yeah I think burks plays more games this year.
