What's new

Lyles is the pick at 12

I'm warming up to the Lyles pick. Seems he was played out of position and still played pretty well. Apparently, he has a high basketball IQ (would have needed it to play out of position on a well coached team) and a versatile skill set. Some say he might end up being the best of the three Kentucky lottery picks. All speculation, but DL might have made an astute pick. I hope so.
I'll be floored if DL gets the "steal" of the draft for the 3rd straight year. That might be asking too much, but I'm getting talked into liking this pick more and more.
.
which probably means he'll suck.

Good point. That would be ridiculous if he pulled off three straight. I suppose he's due for a dud. I'm fine with this one though, I think he's going to give our big rotation and team some versatility. Apparently he's a great passer and has a good stroke (setting aside his % from three, pundits think he will have that range eventually). The Warriors showed that versatility is huge in this NBA.

The Jazz love small ball:

Exum 6-5
Hood 6-7
Hayward 6-8
Lyles 6-10
Favors 6-10

Those guys can guard anyone. And we are HUGE!!!

And that doesn't include Gobert.

Bring small ball on. Small ball will win 2-5 games for Utah next year.

Wow you're right. I love that small ball lineup.

Lyles should probably not be considered a steal right now.
He was drafted right where he was projected.
He is projected to be a role player.
If he shocks everyone and puts up rookie of the year numbers then maybe we could start thinking steal.
And I would welcome that. :)

We would all welcome that, but some steals aren't known for 2-3 years. Nobody, other than Jazz fans perhaps, viewed Rudy as the steal of the draft his first season. Setting that aside, who really knows at this point. We just all hope he'll be viewed as a steal at some point. That would be a positive thing.

Love this pick. I have visions of another jazz player with the ability to feed Gobert, Favors and Alec for sweet dunks. We have plenty of athletes and guys who can jump out of the gym. We don't need every draft pick to have this skill set. Another great passer is just right!

Obviously he's not a steal yet. It took Rudy 1.5 seasons to show he was and Hood looks like he is but could still be up in the air. If in 2 years we are talking about all 3 being the steal of the draft then we are contenders.

Remember how everyone felt the Spurs got a steal in Kyle Anderson?

I agree with you though.

Yeah, cuz the book has been completely written. Give it a couple of seasons before shutting it.
