Lyles is the pick at 12

I don't expect much from Lyles this season, he should be heading toward his sophomore season with Kentucky. I hate the one and done because of that, Utah almost lost Jakob when he really needed that 2nd season in college to develop, I think Lyles is the same case.

Lyles would have easily went top-10 if he was the man on a different team. Probably would have averaged 17 and 7.

Agree. Memo used to to do this all the time the defender would run toward him and memo would go right by him getting all the way to the hoop with relative ease. If memo can do this it should be a walk in the park for Lyles assuming he turns into a threat from three. Also the further out Lyles is the more of the court he will see and the more wide open the court will be

Of course memo was a very very good three point shooter...... Lyles, not so much

How do you know this? Because of his amazing shooting percentages and great stats?

I'm not saying he would not have done great in his sophmore year but I don't think there is anyway to know he would based off his freshman year

He also is a rare case in that he spent so little time at PF so nobody really knows how effective his post moves are, ability to finish over trees and how well he defends down there.

In the small sample sizes i have, doesn't look too good defending around the rim. He's not a NBA SF. Average athletically, not a great shooter.

So if there was a case to be made for a player to spend another season in college I think it was Trey Lyles. I realize he ended up being a lottery pick, but that's about where Jakob was projected as well but he decided to stick around for another season I think he'll be better off because of it.

I will say though that I'm optimistic he will develop his range to at least be respectable the evidence is there. His form is good and is a good ft shooter. If Booker can develop one you'd think Lyles at 19 could over time.

I agree that he is unknown and could use another year in college in his true position.
That was kind of my point though.

It's funny, before the draft there was only maybe two people who thought lyles was good. Now suddenly everyone seems to think he is great and is going to be doing all these amazing things, and that he is the steal of the draft, and would have dominated at Kentucky if he stayed for another year
