What's new

Lyles is the pick at 12

You guys may not want to hear this, but as a player he is a pure PF. And he is closer to a 3/4 than a 4/5. He could play some 5 in a pinch against small ball, but he's more likely to guard 3's than 5's.

He's way more finesse than brute.

I like an Odom comp more so than Diaw.

I actually like that he's closer to a 3/4 than a 4/5, because Gobert is a true 5 and Favors is more of a 4/5 already. So I think Lyles fits better as he'll be a more agile 4 defensively whether he's playing alongside Gobert or Favors.

Turner and Lyles just bring different sets of skills to the table. Turner is less agile, he's more of a 4/5 - but we already have Gobert/Favors, so he's not a great fit IMO. Lyles is more mobile so there should be less match-up problems defensively plus he brings passing & playmaking ability which Turner doesn't have.

We need FC bench depth, so I'm okay with that. We don't need him to play a ton of minutes. Pretty much everthing said about this kid is he does a ton of things well (but not great) and he's got a high basketball nous. At this point, let's see what Snyder does with him. I've got a sneaky suspicion this was a Coach Q pick.

Judge for yourselves... last question right at the end:

Question: Is there someone you look up to?

Answer: No, I wanna set myself apart and be different. There is not 1 guy I wanna be like.

Locke mentioned in his interview tonight with Lyles that he hit 25 of 40 corner 3's during his workout in Utah. This kid is intriguing enough that maybe those freaking the hell out should calm down for just a sec.
Didn't Rudy hit 9 jumpers in a row in practice?
We're going to lead the league in FG%!

Definitely a Snyder pick, I suspect. They had to edit out the sound of Snyder's massive woody breaking through the wall of his office at the end of it, hence the abrupt cut off.

What I like best is his nonchalance. Between that and his IQ, he's got the tools to do well.

He's quiet, but don't let that fool you. He seems to know who he is as a person even at 19. He is his own man and will pave his own path. I like that.

He's definitely not soft. Not mentally anyway.

Turner is not a 4/5. He's a 5.

When he shoots he reminds me of Channing Frye.
His Agility is much better though. Someone said Odom. I don't think he is that agile. And his handed isn't as good.
His passing reminds me of Diaw though.
