What's new

Lyles is the pick at 12

His shooting and feel for the game look promising. He has the ability to make reads and deliver the right pass or move to the rim, which is pretty rare for a guy that size. Lets see if he gets serious about gaining strength and committing to defense.

So my thoughts are simple

I love Devin Booker's game. He's very intriguing to me. Love his playmaking. I think Booker will be a multi time all star.

I really like the Lyles pick though. I think Lyles has a fairly high offensive ceiling. Much higher than that of a role player.

What kind of sucks is that we seem to always pick a good player but not the best player.

Deron Williams over Chris Paul
Hayward over George
Lyles over Booker (I think Booker is gonna be a bit better)
Kanter over Klay
Burks over Kawhi
The last two examples are not as good as the first 3 I do admit.

But Lyles is definitely the better fit, at least for the current Jazz team, and I definitely think the jury is still out on who will turn out better.

Hopefully Exum does not end up on that list.

Hood and Gobert were obviously both the right picks, so at least we picked the best player available a few times.

Booker would be a great fit too. We desperately need a perimeter shooter of his caliber.

I think saying Locke is a shill is pretty lame. If he was a complete shill he would have defended Ty Corbin for not playing Rudy. Instead, he said Ty was wrong. Many examples like that. Is he trying to create positive perspective in re Jazz decisions? Yes. Doesn't make him a complete shill though.

You can argue that a skilled 6'10" PF like Lyles is the more rare commodity than Devin Booker and hence the more valuable player. Booker's ability to create off the dribble, defend and rebound still seem limited, but there's no doubt he's a solid shooter. Whoever made comps to JJ Redick was pretty accurate. Lets see if he can keep it up when PHX plays games that matter and when other teams start to scout him more.

Ummmmm, u do realize Booker shot 34% from three. Maybe it's that he's a rookie, I don't know? What I do know is that Lyles was a rookie too and he shot 38%. Still don't understand how some think he is the better prospect. Hell even Ingles shot a better %.

Since you say he is a shill and link to a article that indicates he is not a shill (criticizing Malone), I assume sarcasm?

I like Locke and do not think he is a shill. He does a good job of balancing promoting the good things about the Jazz with some "reality checks" about where they are today.

I'm sure that if he did not agree with the FO view on Lyles, he would tell us the truth. But he will get the positive message out. I think he is intellectually honest, while promoting and building excitement about the team.
