Mailman on 1280 The Zone :))

I wonder if Mailman understands that every time he has a stream-of-consciousness interview like this he gets further and further from having any kind of coaching position with the Jazz? He is like Kanye West if twitter were a talk-radio microphone and Jack Daniels were questions.

I think Karl said he didn't feel like he could call up and ask for some tickets. I don't think he ever asked, but that he didn't feel comfortable just showing up. Still stupid, but I'm sure he could sit next to Greg any game he wants.
Fine he's a jackass for taking Derons side over Coach.

I've decided if Malone ever ran for some high government office I'd vote for him. Just think of all the government dirt he'd let slip. The man doesn't hold anything back. Wish everyone was like Malone!! Lol..

More quotes for those not listening:

[Ty Corbin]
"Most important thing out of that whole thng is I don't care who you have, you could hav Coach Wooden...players got to buy into it. They buying into Ty, they buying into his style. The key is they keep him tuned if things don't go well. The job he's doing [now] is unbelievable"

[Current Jazz squad]
Paul is having a good year, Jefferson's having a good year...Devin...you know I like that kid, you know all the stuff he been through from leaving Dallas to NJ...did he ever pout one time? Don't get me wrong...but then he got to come in here and they compare him to Deron...but the Jazz got the best of that [Deron/Favors-Harris-draftpick trade]. What they got in return...their job is when these guys come up to be free agents...keepin them."

[Can Jazz attract superstars?]
"I think that superstar has to be created in this market...superstars now...some of them debateable...are they superstars?...come'on...15 points, 7 rebounds a couple of dunks and they stick their chest out...to me a superstar now is give credit to your teammates when you win, take responsibility when you lose and play through things...but to answer you question, no. I don't see it...I don't see a superstar [coming to Utah]...they can talk about it all they want and say who they're talking to...I can see superstars using them as a bargaining chip...and every now and then a blind squirrel find a nut...but superstar have to be created here."

"Talented, need to get in shape...stamina where 'i can be that guy that offense can come through me every single play. now they got the makeup but the issue is keeping them."

[On Kanter]
“Well, I see a tall kid with unbelievable physical presence which you can’t teach, but I’m a little bit nervous about his skill set, meaning do you as a Jazz organization…is he willing to spend the time to make yourself into a superstar…I told everyone [few years ago] the worst case you could make is draft that kid [Hasheem Thabeet]. You don’t have the luxury to draft projects with the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th pick. You don’t have the time. No disrespect to staff currently in place but…who do you have that can work with that big guy, no disrespect to the coaching staff because I love Scott Layden all of them, but who do you have to work with them?”
[Did they call you to work with him?]
No. You can’t beat the fart out of a dead mule, they haven’t called they ain’t gonna call.

[back to Kanter]
“I’m not saying he ain’t going to be a superstar, does he have the drive to want to be a superstar?”
“I’m not going to curse, but sometime you can’t make chicken salad out of chicken.”

[Jimmer Fredette]
“Next episode we get on Jimmer Fredette. I’m a fan.”

[Will he be clapping for Jimmer tomorrow night?]
“Who hold on, it’s the jersey. I might like him but I’m not clapping for him.

Karl is one of those guys who is 100% confident about what they say, which leads you to believing them sometimes, but at the same time, they probably don't know what they're talking about. He overrates his own opinion just like we do because he was Karl Malone on the basketball floor.

He sounds pretty jealous of the Jazz staff actually. When asked about Kanter, he went, "Who do they have to coach a young bigman like that?" and "Deron went to practice with John... what about me?"

He's right though. They don't have anyone who has been a big in the NBA, or been there done that. How is that Karl being jealous, when he is telling it as he sees it. He was spot on there.
