What's new

Man kills 4 in stabbing spree.

I mean, it’s no Chicago or Detroit slums, but I don’t go do work there unarmed.

OK, if their is at least a la one dead body per week :-) and it is dangerous to work without bodyguard - aren't the Utah or Salt Lake City police departments kind of worried and at least doing raids most of the days?
Should we have the same situation in Tallinn - i think that journalists would ask some really tough questions from either the mayor or even the opposition members of the parliament might try to question or fire the government.
We had maybe little bit similar situations when we got independence, but the dead persons were mainly the local and Russian maffia members - we had so called Perm, Kemerovo, Chechen etc etc groups who tried their luck with exporting valuable scrap metals, stuff from the remnants of the Soviet army, racketeering, casinos, prostitutions etc. Thankfully the government got it under the control (took about 5 years).

Salt Lake, in general is very safe. According to https://www.areavibes.com/salt+lake+city-ut/glendale/crime/ the violent crime rate is 879 per 100,000 people. Again, very safe. The Glendale area of Salt Lake violent crime rate is about 125% of that. Still, overall, very safe.

The vast majority of cities in the US are very safe in fact. The anomalies are the large population centers. Chicago for example, new York, LA, etc. But you regular old run of the mill American City is exceptionally safe.
Agreed
