Man of Steel

I read a review of this and it was going off about how they didn't like this movie because it wasn't like the other Superman movies. To gritty and not enough sunshine and flowers and crap. Made me want to ask the critic if he realised who directed it. I'm excited to see it.

ive never been super impressed by the super man movies... maybe this one will be different....

I have very high hopes as it looks much more in line with the tone of the Batman movies (Nolans version) than the other Superman movies.

Didn't critics bash Superman Returns because they tried to be like the Christopher Reeve movies? Damned if you do damned if you don't.

I have no idea but bashing a movie because it is or is not like something else is idiotic at best. base your critique on the movie itself. But then again no one really listens to critics anyways.

True. Lots of movies that critics love I don't really enjoy and vice versa.

Richard Roeper liked that last Superman but not this current version coming out?

How is that even humanly possible?

When will people understand that many superhero movies are hard to make? In fact, only a few can actually be done and strike a balance between believable, realistic, and yet still fun. Batman, the easiest of all to do (since he is just an average guy with billions of dollars, sweet gadgets, and training) even struggled (especially in the last movie) to be believable. Folks will either complain that it's too goofy and unbelievable or too serious and dark.

Superman, believe it or not, is one of the hardest superheros to do. Why? Because he has practically every single super power. Who can threaten him? Someone from his own world or someone with Kryptonite. Other than that... That's it! He can't be beaten up. He can't be shot. He can't be blown away. He stronger, faster, and better than everyone else. He is essentially, a god-like entity. How do you do a (believable) superhero movie about someone who cannot be threatened?

So I can understand if critics complain about the acting, special effects, or choppy camera. Whatever, that's fine. For some reason Hollywood believes in shakey and choppy cameras and fight scenes. I can't control it so why complain? Besides, you're always going to face those issues in the 1st of a potential trilogy (acting, special effects, needing more character development, etc). However, if critics are complaining about it being too dark or too serious or too goofy... It just ticks me off and makes me want to slap them around. It's a damn superhero movie. What do you expect? Want to watch something realistic? Watch Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, or some documentary on PBS. Want to escape reality and be entertained? Watch a movie about a superhero.

I can't wait to see it.
