You are not allowed to reach all the way around the player like Mitchell did. This angle in the video doesn't show it well but the picture shows he was reaching all the way around simmons before he pinned his arm to him. The ref could spot this pretty easily from his angle.

I know everyone wants to be upset about all the bad calls. There were bad calls, this wasn't one. We also played like **** at the end. This one is on the Jazz for the loss.

Mitchell's arm was getting pinned well before the image you posted.

That isn't a hook and that isn't when it was called so....

Hooking a guy is when you take someone from legal guarding position and move them with your arm. You are allowed to stick your arm out to protect your space. He already had a step on him.

Also that's not the definition of hooking. You can go to the nba website and look at their definition and videos. It's the same thing Mitchell did.

He flat out didn't reach all the way around him... your picture shows him reaching his arm out... you have no clue what the ref could see from his angle. Sure man... tons of times hooking is called like that... when the offending player is already ahead of the defender and the defender is trying to get back in the play.

It didn't get called until DM turned and that is when they thought the hook took place.

The image I posted is a screenshot from right after the start of the 8 second mark. Even from a different angle it'd be impossible for Mitchell to have hooked before that, because he doesn't even extend his arm before that.

I can't remember ever seeing a hook called in that way. The other manuever DM makes is more consistent with a hook... that is when they made the call. Him sticking his arm out as the defender is coming back into his space that he's legally earned isn't a hook or at least its not ever called that way.

The players on the court when it happened. Before the ref said what the call was multiple people pointed knowing it was an offensive foul. Its very clear Mitchell reached around Simmons first when he drove in. Then when he spun around Simmons pinned his arm. The refs dont always call this but when they see it they pretty consistently call it. I am sorry you dont like the call but it is correct.

I think maybe you dont know what a hook is. At the 8 second mark Mitchell's left arm is wrapped around his body. The picture I posted shows it reached all the way around. That is the very definition that the NBA has of a hook and the exact same play they show multiple examples of when calling an offensive foul for hooking.

I feel like you're overlooking the image I posted of Mitchell's arm getting pinned. I linked you directly to the video and gave you the timestamp so you could see for yourself that it clearly happened before the image you posted, as Mitchell didn't even extend his arm before that point.

And lmao, you know you're reaching when the opposing team's reaction to the whistle is your trump card in the discussion. As if every NBA game doesn't feature multiple instances of players pointing in their team's direction when the ball goes out of bounds when it's obviously out on them.
