What's new

Gotta remember Ochai and Kessler are rookies we got in trades. Lauri and Collin young veterans entering their primes. Dunn is a dirt cheap off the bench fundamentals veteran off the bench. When we add whatever good rookies and trade for a star this team could win more than one series. been tooting this since Dec. we are having a generational coach so getting the high 1st would mean we would have to kill some momentum and important development lessons from these kids. If all those trades did not work to make us suck... Better just buckle up and take whatever comes. If its in the lottery then ok. if it is for the post-season series then nice.

Sure. Saying there's a legit chance to find a better player in the late lottery/late first compared to guys taken in the top ten is dumb. Like this type of things doesn't happen every ****ing year. Sure man. Sure. Whatever hell you wanna say.
Your words were it is very likely we find someone at 15 that is better than the player at 4… which does not happen every year and is some of the dumbest nonsense ever… and ignores all history and logic…but other than that you nailed.

Teams that won a title over the last several years with significant help from their own top 5 pick:

'22 Warriors: Nope Convenient you cut it off at 5th pick and ignore that they built from the ground up and tanked their asses off.
'21 Bucks: Nope
'20 Lakers: No Lakers don't count
'19 Raptors: Lucky single year/not a dynasty
'18 Warriors: No Convenient you cut it off at 5th pick and ignore that they built from the ground up and tanked their asses off.
'17 Warriors: No Convenient you cut it off at 5th pick and ignore that they built from the ground up and tanked their asses off.
'16 Cavs: Yes
'15 Warriors: No Convenient you cut it off at 5th pick and ignore that they built from the ground up and tanked their asses off.

I'll be damned

Spurs: Tanked their asses off and could keep churning the roster because they had their core built around.

God this whole debate is so ****ing tired but it's always better to have better picks. If the Warriors don't have the 6th pick, guess who they probably don't draft? Or if the Bucks scrapped their way into the playoffs in '13?

It's not all about the top of the draft, but yeah, you bet your *** if you land a Tim Duncan or LeBron then the organization has to be absolute dreck to not make it happen (and the Cavs still were, Lebron just cracked the code... wait for it... by letting the Cavs accumulate talent and assets to assemble a super team in Cleveland).

TLDR; The vast majority of NBA champions and maybe every dynasty ever - besides Laker teams - did it with lottery picks in the draft.

Who’s to say one of the million picks we have in the next few years doesn’t get top 3 , why does it have to be this draft ? Apart from the obvious first and second picks

Just enjoy the ride , I’m certainly enjoying the effort this season , in which I haven’t seen for a number of years ..

It’s hard not to cheer them on

Cleveland would have been terrible too if LeBron didn’t go back there.
Exactly. People laugh at LeGM but it wasn't the Cavs front office brilliance that built those teams, it was a lot of lottery luck from being dog **** that allowed them to replenish and then he did most of the heavy lifting off the court.

Dog, you just did it with the cutoff at #5. Have at least a little self-awareness.
I could have cut it off at 6 and it would've remained the same. Hell I could have cut it off at 14 and you still get to keep 2 of the last 4 champions.

Your doomer nonsense is just that: Nonsense. We have enough young studs and assets (and an all-star already in Lauri) to really build something special even without tanking this year.

Here's the goalpost @MT Steve : The vast majority of NBA champions and maybe every dynasty ever - besides Laker teams - did it with lottery picks in the draft.
