Mare of Easttown on HBO

SPOILERS

I’m gonna stick with my older priest theory as the younger priest was the only person contacted by the victim the night of her death. Who else could’ve possibly known she was gonna be in Brandywine if she hadn’t contacted them? Maybe I’m misremembering specifics about her phone usage but I thought that was the case. So yeah, I think the older priest was suspicious of the younger one, given his rumored history and followed him out there, watching the girl exit his car all crazily as described in this past episode, and wrongfully assuming his coworker had just raped the girl or been inappropriate with her in some way. Once good priest leaves, older priest comes in “to console the girl” but realizes his parish is ****ed if a rumor gets out...and so he kills her.

That said, I don’t buy the last part totally and doubt that is true.

Maybe Dylan and his buddy threatened to kill them baby out at the lake in the park unless she met them there and they offer her. IDK. Seems too obvious.

More likely is Lori’s husband had knocked the girl up since she had stayed with his brother or cousin whoever that is that left the full beer in episode five when Mare started asking questions. He’s the red herring. It wasn’t him, it was Lori’s husband who was also sitting there who knocked her up. And maybe the victim demanded money for her kid’s ear surgery and not the husband but Lori herself killed the girl.

That seems most likely to me. Especially since I’ve read that Winslet said her solving of the case is going to shatter her world. Her best friend doing it would crush her.

My last theory and I may have mentioned this before is her daughter. She was the last one seen with her. She disappeared for basically 24 hours after the girl’s death. She contradicted herself when citing what happened when the girl left her to Mare and later to the ******* virgin cop who’s now dead. Not that her daughter did it maliciously but perhaps something with her band. Maybe on the trail her daughter said yeah meet up with us at Brandywine Park later...and she did...and maybe her semi hothead female friend who was in the band accidentally killed her somehow idk.

So many possibilities.

I would be shocked if it's not Lori or her son after finding out hes the dad. Shocked. Obviously not the priests or the skeezy looking cousin. Frank could still be very much involved also. But I'd bet a lot of monies its Lori or her son that pulled the trigger. Although it would be a bold move to kick him out of the house when you were all involved in a murder together.

Her nine year old son got a gun, was out at like 1am and knew that the girl was going to be at Brandywine Park? No way.

The kids like 13. But fair point.

What if it’s the victim’s friend? Lori’s daughter. She’s been hanging around with Dylan...and took the pic...generally, that makes us, the viewer, feel like she found a pic that is important and reveals some detail about who the murderer is.

But what if it’s a pic of her and something that would incriminate her in some way of the murder? Maybe she did it. Why? Maybe she loves Dylan? IDK.

SPOILERS

The kid biked a total of 59 miles (almost 30 one way) in pitch black. Okay.

Very, very good show. Tough to pull off a legit whodunit while conveying real drama and themes. Excellent ending.

Just wish the kid would’ve been a better actor and crushed the scene where he owns up.

Where are you getting the mileage? I dont thin they ever said how far Franks house was from the park. Just how far the park was from where the body was found.

Google Maps. Easttown (it’s a real town) to Brandywine Park is 29.5 miles.

Honestly though, that’s fine. 99.7% of viewers wouldn’t know that. I happened to grow up about 50 miles from there and know ****. I think the show would’ve been a grand slam for me if the boy crushed his scene in which he recalled what happened. The ending of Secrets and Lies (Australian version) comes to mind. Similarly, a kid committed the crime in that and the end scene was much shorter but it felt more compelling and ****ed up em what I recall. This felt like the actor was upset, fake crying. I’m really upset. Except there were no actual tears...mediocre acting.

The show was really effing good though. Winslet was phenomenal. Many of the supporting characters were very, very good as well. And it was heartbreaking as it came full circle,

Yeah, this kid wasn't a great actor.

True, but also she isn't having a priest transport her 30 miles to a park, they didnt pay attention to details but it was implied this was a local city park. Either way I was right about the murder durder.

Yeah, good call. My buddy called it too maybe two weeks ago and I was like that’s ****ing dumb...because of what I said to you.

By the way, what adult, let alone a priest, leaves a distraught teen at that park at midnight?
