"We have to force the game," said Mavs forward Shawn Marion, and he sounded as if he was making a promise for Game 2 on Thursday. "Go out there and play ball. We were calling so many sets, it just kind of took the rhythm out of everything we normally do. When we're out there freelancing and playing the game and making it up as we go, we're one of the best to do it."

....if the Mav's shoot better tomorrow night...win game 2...take back home court advantage...THEN what will you clowns be saying??? This game was alot closer than the score indicated. The Mav's got absolutely nothing from their bench. They shot poorly from the field. I say they regroup and take game 2. After that....basketball on South Beach will be OVER!

...then they will win...but they are going to have to shoot better than the Mav's.

Or shoot the same as the Mavs like they did last game. The key is the boards. They both shot similar last game, but Miami dominated the boards giving them many more possessions. The Mavs could shoot 10% better than the Heat, but if they don't defensive rebound, they are going to get beat.

He was correct, that is Carlisle's strategy. I read an article where he decided to go with a much more free form offense with few set plays. His idea was that if you have a very structured offense, when you get to the playoffs it does not function well as the other teams become very familiar with what you are going to do.

Hopper ball seems to be working for the Mavs. Maybe it is not the sign of cultural degeneration that you seem to think it is.

Hopper ball is always a great strategy when you have a player that no team can guard. (Dirk)

Dallas did NOT play much hopper ball, if any at all! They were constantly moving the ball around, passing, setting screens and picks...looking for the open man. The Heat played way more hopper ball than the Mav's did! I'll check on the assist to turnover ratio....and get back with you later!
