What's new

Marvin Williams needs love

Sadly, if we commit to Marvin in the future we are screwed. If that is all we can do this offseason this team probably has no bright future. At least my version of where I want to see this core go.

If we can Corbin and sign Marvin to say 3 year 10 million dollar deal I think all will be fine. Corbin is the issue. Marvin could easily be our 8th man and be productive in that role. I think that's all he wants to be. So dudes are alpha. Marvin isn't. Does not mean there is not a place for him on a successful teams bench.

On record that I like Marvin as a role player for this team as far back as last year. Ive also stated that kanter must prove he has the iq to play team ball or he is expendable. You can always teach new skills to those who have intelligence, however you can't teach bbiq at this stage in kanters development. That's my concern with him. If big al had the intelligence to go along with skill he would have never played on 4 different teams. I worry that Kanter is the second lesser coming of Jefferson.

He is playing fine lately. The struggle he had earlier i think was about his confidence and being out of shape. From what i've seen last couple of games he is doing fine at two man games, setting good picks and getting in passing lane after the picks, he improved his passing out of double teams, running the court etc.. By doing just those things he is contributing to team ball. Yes, he is not a good passer and doesnt have a good court vision but i can say he is improving. His TO numbers are more acceptable lately. He made a double spin move first time (if im not mistaken) against Wizards which was pretty impressive. So i dont think he is going around in circles.. i think he is learning and going to be better game by game.

Slow your roll.
Kanter is 21 years old and is already being talked about as being as good as jefferson is right now.

Not too shabby imo

Agree with all that

Not convinced I believe this. He could be a part of our future if he accepts a low low price.

Face it: We're gonna play vets. The vets could get a lot worse than Marvin.

Yes, he could be a good player to come off the bench, but will he accept this role and the reduced salary that goes with it?

I agree.

That is the theme of corbins coaching...... "he could be doing worse"

Lol

Good point. If it's for the right price then he could be a piece(if we add a star). Will he take that deal? Seems like he could get more elsewhere.

In other news, Paul Millsap is the Eastern Conference player of the month.

Oh, and Paul >>>>>>> Marvin

I think that both Millsap and Big Al have legit chances to be called at the All-Star Game as reserves. It would be the right reward for both...they are having a good year.
