I feel bad for him because (1) from what I've seen and heard, he's a good guy, and I generally don't take pleasure in other people's difficulties, (2) I know he's better than this, and he knows he's better than this, and I imagine he's very frustrated right now, and (3) he's always been a team player, he doesn't complain, he tries to do his job (although not well at the moment). He's not some blow hard ego maniac or a jerk, he's a decent guy, a consumate pro and team player going through a tough spot. So yes, I feel bad for him.
Despite the fact that athletes make a lot of money, they're still people no different from anyone else with the same range of emotions, disappointments, frustrations, insecurities, etc. Money doesn't make any of these go away.
