His first half dozen games with them, Matthews scored 13 points or better (high of 18) in 4 of 6 games. Nope, unlikely anybody would've wanted to trade somebody who put up those numbers coming off the bench for about 22 minutes per. Not to mention the hustle and defense he probably brought with him too.Also, I'm pretty sure if Matthews played the same beginning of the season here as he did in Portland, there would be a "trade Matthews!" thread or two about the site.
And also the Jazz didn't and don't have a Brandon Roy equivalent that Matthews would have had to play behind.
Sure most of the board were fine with the FO not matching but the FO do this for a living and they sure dropped the ball on this one. Another mistake from the same guys that brought us the Mehmet Okur extension, among others.
