McDermott / Gordon

I have no doubt that Doug McDermott can score on the NBA level. I've read several scouts think he is the will be the best shooter in the draft. I don't know if he will be able to guard anyone. I think he will be a SF in the league. I've seen him play several times and he has a beautiful looking shot. Mark my words, he will be next years ROTY if he is on the right team.

Good point, he's going to have to go to the right team to be a successful player.

What team is the right team for McDermott.

Like, not looking for a specific team, but what style would be the right fit?

Trying to think of a player to compare him too, and all I have is Ryan Anderson. Anderson is a decent amount taller though.

One with a very good coach that would know how to use him, set plays up that utilize him.

The reason why I think McDermott can succeed is his ability to catch and shoot off screens.

Whitey busts like Morrison and Jimner never excelled at that.

on the app. square bizness.

Most of the posts on McDermott are fairly ignorant. He has defensive issues, but they are not unlike Parker. Offensively though he has it all... he is the most polished player in the draft. I do think once Jabari figures out his weight and grows into his body he will become quicker but who he defends at the next level will always be a problem for Jabari, just as it will for Doug Mcdermott. But if you watch Mcdermott the dude can finish with both hands, he can shoot off every play: (off the bounce, pass, and dribble, and off screens), he is a coaches son and has higher BB IQ than even Hayward. He makes the right play all the time and is always in motion doing something positive for the team. He can pass, The dude is going to end up top 12 mark my words! He may not have the upside of some of the other top picks in the draft but I bet when it is all said and done half the players drafted ahead of him won't have the career that he has.

You're 100% right, but the counter argument is a guy of McDermott's caliber can be had in free agency. The Jazz have to draft an all star/superstar if they ever hope to get one.

Top 12 drafted?

Top 12 best players in the draft?

Top 12 player in the NBA?

The first two aren't impossible. Just don't see it. He is a force-fed scorer who relies on a lot of post-ups that just won't happen in the NBA.
