Melo traded to OKC for Enes and McDermott

.BTW, how does Presti make these moves? They gave up nothing of value and ended up with two superstars, arguably. Making the rest of the NBA look crappy. It's too bad for OKC that Clay Bennett is such a ****ing dumb sack of **** and pushed Harden out because he didn't want to amnesty Kendrick Perkins lol.

33 YO Melo is not a superstar. Please stop saying that.

Also, Melo had a no-trade clause and was trying to force his way to Houston. When it wasn't working out, he expanded his list of teams to include the Cavs and OKC. It's not like Presti was competing against the rest of the league in pulling this trade off. The Knicks were in a bad situation and ended up taking the lesser of evils just to get him out of NY.

Paul George is headed to the Lakers next year, and everyone knows it, so it crushed his trade value.

Let's revisit this OKC offseason next year and for the next decade following, as it may take them that long to rebuild after burning everything resembling an asset to go all in this year. It's a huge gamble that they may greatly regret.

Melo had a no trade clause and Utah wasn't on his list, so there's that. I doubt there's anything DL could have done for Melo to consider Utah.

Anyway, come back next year when OKC is trying to rebuild out of a deep hole after trading away everything and anything that resembles an asset for guys who are going to bolt after one year.

If GS wasn't so stacked, then it may have been worth it for a ring, but this team went all in on one year which will likely send them into a long, drawn out rebuild. In the end, I think OKC will greatly regret not cleaning Boston out of all their picks to start an amazing rebuild instead of the nightmare they're likely to face otherwise.
I didn't say he should go after Melo. I said I wish he was more aggressive.

What's your evidence for his lack of aggression, exactly? And why are you making that accusation in this context?

Drop iso play? That's all the Thunder run. That's why I kind of like his fit because it's not like Billy Donovan is going to draw up anything outside of Melo's comfort zone and ask him to actually work. It will be, space if Russ or George has the ball then sometimes we will give it to you in the high post when we cant get anything in transition. And I think will George will kind of just roll w/ the punches cuz he knows he is going to LA anyway.

All 3 of them are use to being "the man" so at least one of them is going to have to change their game quite a bit. Players naturally gravitate to being jump shooters as they age. On a per minute basis Melo shot more 3s last year and had less shots within 3 feet than anytime in his career. He also averaged the least amount of FTs of his career last year so his transition as a support player may be well under way.

I remember when Durant left us, many Jazzfan on here called me out.

How does it feel for that to bite you all in your collective asses now?

Welcome to obscurity Jazz. Over here we'll still be competing for a title.

LOL.

lol ok Here we still have a foundational superstar and a lot of young talent to grow and develop. When the three of them leave next year you can get back to us about what the true definition of obscurity really is.

More Presti worship: if this doesn't work and everyone bolts, the Thunder have infinite cap space and no one to score, so they'd be perfectly situated for a total rebuild.

Carmello played with AI before....

If Melo is in better shape and actually motivated to play hard and be a team player that could be a good team though. A starting lineup of:

Westbrook
George
Melo
Pattterson
Adams

on paper is pretty solid.

but basketball is not played on paper. it is played on the court with 1 ball and requires DEFENSE and offensive chemistry!
