50 bucks says Memo starts the first game this season, and by 50 bucks I mean "nothing".

I love Memo with all my heart. I hope he shows that he can still play this year. I would love to bring him back if he is willing to give us a "home-team discount". I hope he can at least have some classic Memo clutch moments.
Memo was only clutch one year for a few months. And during that time I don't think I seen more clutch shots in my life (little bit of luck you think?).However, he was the opposite of clutch in the Spurs series and the two lakers series that sent us packing. He was terrible in those series. And his defense has always been terrible. Give me a defensive center and leave the three point shooting to the guards. He is a big softy. We never should have made him our center.
Disagree completely.Memo was only clutch one year for a few months. Well said. There's a tendency by some to think Kanter is an all-star in waiting just because he was drafted #3. Kanter is a PROJECT. Even more than Favors was/is. Derrick couldn't even beat out Kris Humphries last season. Kanter will get 10-15 minutes to start out. Probably a few DNP-Coach's decision. Memo will play about the same number of minutes and probably won't play on successive nights (a la Harpring). It's really not a bad situtation. Also, Okur is a fellow countryman. Yes, I know the age difference is significant. But I think Memo can be a good mentor for Enes, help him fit into whatever Turkish community there is in SLC. In fact, if Kanter turns out to be a great player for the Jazz and has a lengthy career in Salt Lake, it could very well be due to Memo laying the foundation this season. The bigs who should play are the bigs who can help us win. If that's Memo, it's Memo. And honestly, I'll be shocked if Kanter is a better option than Memo in his rookie year. For that matter, Memo's defensive liabilities might outweigh Favor's offensive liabilities a lot of the time. But the good news is Favors and Kanter's job is to make Memo obsolete. Hopefully they will.
Healthy Memo was a very good player. 80% Memo can still be good, but the liabilities mean you have to pick your spots with him. But even 80% Memo is a guy you have to find minutes for. He's a fantastic shooter who can't be ignored on the floor. Opposing teams have to account for him which creates opportunities for other players. You definitely can't say the same thing about Favors, and it's very unlikely that Kanter will be a force in his first year.
Right. So play him only when you need a clutch 3-point shot--and don't need defense.Healthy Memo was a very good player. 80% Memo can still be good, but the liabilities mean you have to pick your spots with him.
