Memo traded to NJ

Wait you would give up Al, CJ ,GS pick and Hayward while also taking on a bad contract for a 1 year rental of Howard? I don't think that would be a smart thing for this team to do. If Howard agrees to an extension I'm all for it. But not for a rental.

Agreed here. Why would you want a year rental of any player on the Jazz?
Oh yeah, so that say they win a title with him and then he bolts.
Good excuse to say the only reason the Jazz had a title was Howard.
For one thing, the Jazz don't need another egotistical star boy.
Hasn't anyone learned anything from the D-Will fiasco?

In a heartbeat. I'm not a fan of Al (for all we know we'd end up amnestying him after this year), CJ blows, for all we know the GS pick could end up being a 2nd round pick 3 years from now. Hayward is the only piece that would be tough to give up - as he could possibly have a bright future with the Jazz, but would I trade him for a year of Dwight? Yes.

None of those pieces are going to take us to the promised land, and I don't think Dwight could do it in one year either, but it would be hella fun to watch.
Giving up Hayward and a possibly good pick is not worth a brief cameo of D. Howard in Salt Lake City. Besides, Utah now already has a Howard, and Superman belongs in (a) Metropolis :|.

So you admit it's not enough for a title and that he won't be back. Meanwhile you screw all our chances to improve and trade away a lot of our future for 1 non-championship run. WTF? Why would we do that? Seriously. What would be the point?

Those are all assets we can use in building the team going forward. What you're talking about is throwing away assets just so we can see Dwight in a Jazz jersey for about half a season. That is the definition of short-sightedness.

Lets go over these pieces again, and you name me one that's going to propel us to a championship or even a conference finals: Al - nope, CJ - hell nope, GS Pick (at best #8 this year) - nope, and Hayward - nope.

Personally I don't even want Al or CJ on the team. I'd move them for cap space to be honest. So the next question would be, would I trade the GS pick + Hayward for Howard and Hedo. A million times yes. Even if DH12 is only here for a year. We'd still have our core young guys (minus Hayward - who at best will turn into Manu, but more realistically will be Mike Dunleavy Jr. with a little defense) of Favors, Kanter, Burks.

So unless you're extremely high on Hayward or you think the #8-#12 pick this year or next will get us over the hump, I don't see why you wouldn't do this trade.

I think you'd have to be extremely high to give up a single asset for a short term rental like the one you describe. What is it about having Howard here for half a non-championship year that you feel would be so orgasmic?

With Memo gone now...is there anyone on the team capable of hitting a three pointer on a consistent basis (i.e. 30%+)?

Miles, Harris, Hayward, Millsap, Watson, and Bell all shoot above 30%. Now is there anyone who can shoot above 40%? Probably only Hayward.

i cant say it was a bad move, but still sad to see Memo leave for so cheap. That pick will be something between 40-45 probably and it will have no value. I hope this trade exception will be a big asset in an upcoming big trade including Harris and Jefferson. Otherwise getting rid of 10 million dollar burden only for this year doesn't make sense at all.

We are also taking on one of the worst contracts in the NBA and he does not go away after 1/2 a year. On top of that which is almost a no go as it is. You are giving away our 2 best wings, arguably our best PF/C(though I would go with Favors) and a potential lottery pick.

That is not only too much but WAY too much for a 1 year non-championship run. You are basically trading our future to see 1 year of Howard. If Howard agreed to a 4 year extension then hell yes. Otherwise this is not even close to being a good deal for Utah.
