Memo traded to NJ

tribjazz Brian T. Smith
Mehmet Okur completely caught off guard by trade.

Where have I heard that before.....
Unfortunately, that's the smart way to run the business. The fewer people know that you're talking, the fewer chances it gets derailed, and the faster the deal can move along (it sounds like that NJ deal came together fast as **** as well).

Thanks Memo, you were an awesome dude.

The Jazz just paid $10 million, losing Wes Matthews, 'gaining' Raja Bell, and LT ramifications for a 2nd round pick.

Well Kanter and Evans both played good last night and I wonder if that had anything to do with the trade.

I also wonder what the next Jazz move is going to be. It can't be Kirelenko, KOC and the Jazz coaches know they overpaid him and won't do so again.

It might be someone else........someone they could use that trade exception for.
Maybe Harris for someone? It's pretty clear Tinsley and Watson outplayed Harris at the point on both pre-season games.
I wonder if there's a starting point guard out there who is unhappy with his team and is worth a ton of money....

Who knows? There may not even be a next move. Maybe it was a salary dump.

Evans is still in the 4 slot. Jefferson and Favors are essentially switched, and given Favors' foul issues, should probably be behind Millsap.

I think Favors could evolve into a 5 much better than Jefferson ever will be at that position.

On another note, this trade is expediting the process of ridding ourselves of bad contracts. If we can unload Bell somehow, and realize we're just 66 games away from being done with Miles if we want, we're in very good financial shape. The contracts of Jefferson and Harris aren't great. Don't get me wrong. But Harris has to be the man here for now at the one and Jefferson is an anchor, albeit a flawed one, for now at the 4/5. But if Favors emerges like we think he may, Jefferson could become expendable and we could parlay that trade exception (the Bulls' one, not this new one) from Jefferson into something even greater.

Is it too soon to be sarcastic? Not by some posts I've read.

Memo was a second round pick, and the way the Jazz use second round picks, this could eventually be a great move.

I blame Gail. seriously.

Damn, this team would be so much better with Wes.
This team would probably still have Deron. And possibly Pau Gasol with Chris Paul going to the Lakers.

But yeah. This has Gail's fingerprints all over it, IMO. The former, certainly not the latter.
