Memorializing the 2013 PG supporters

He's a great athlete, a great shot/scorer.. he's just never proven to be a pass-first PG. That's why I think most here undervalue him. Scouts like him because he can score, is an athlete, and has a high bbIQ/smart player.

Poor mans john wall as a comparison?

I do not undervalue just dont know enough. this was suppose to be his year to prove he is a PG and well you know what happened.

Yeah, I started a thread about us using the cap space in order to snag two 2014 picks. I didn't mention the Bobcats specifically, but I've been thinking/targeting 2014 since we stood pat at the deadline.

I think Detroit could be another team to target for a top pick.

It seems to me that McCollum has done what his team has needed him to do in the flow of the game. I think he sees things well enough to pass more, and he will be asked to do that at the next level.

my problem is i can see how a lot of players will fit well with the Jazz. for some reason i dont like smart though. I would not be upset with Burke, MCW or Mccollum.

Most undervalue him because he has been injured since January so no one got to watch him recently. Anyone who talks about him is probably just looking at stats.

I think McCollum is the most undervalued by the board. Its understandable, though, as most thirst for a pure point.

Perhaps. I have always thought that we should draft him if we miss out on Burke. In fact, I really feel like our FO would like his type of player. I can definitely see us drafting him when we miss out on Burke, barring a trade for a better pick.

To me, I think it could potentially be a wash as to who becomes the better offensive player between CJ and Trey. However, what I DO know is that Burke will certainly be the better player who makes his teammates better.

With drafting Burke, we're fixing several problems. We get a PG who can space the floor with his three point shot. We get a PG who can come off screens and shoot. We have a PG who can come off the pick and roll and drop a 20 footer consistently. We have a PG who can get to the paint, and dish it off to one of our athletic bigs to do the dirty-work, i-case he lacks the strength to do the finishing on his own.

And most importantly, we get a PG who can seriously open up the offensive repertoires of players like Kanter and Favors (particularly Favors), as well as take some of the ball-handling pressure off of Hayward and Burks.

Honestly, this dude could be our saviour. I would trade anyone and everyone and everything other than our core4 for him. I could maybe be talked into a Burks for Burke swap. MAYBE.

His play last year was pretty memorable. And, one can do research beyond DX and YouTube. But, you're probably right about most opinions.

Further proof most on this board have never seen CJ play.

Confirmed

(only saw him in a highlight video that spycam posted..... and really liked what i saw)

You liked a highlight video? Shocking.

I like it more than most of the others that spy posted. (mcw, burke, porter, oladipo, poythress, and a few others)

Also, one of the best highlight vids i have ever seen was one of royce white..... so that shows how much highlight vids really matter lol.

Russ Smith from Louisville probably isn't a starting PG but man he is a baller. Everyone can us guy who can get into the paint and onto the free throw line.

Personally I am fan of Smart. I worry about Burke's size but he looks like he has enough ability to overcome his size. MCW still looks like Shaun Livingston to me. Which when healthy is a pretty good player.

McCollum's defense is my biggest concern. I think he has an amazing set of offensive gifts. He'll struggle defending starting guards for a bit.... which is why I mentioned him as a bench ignitor at first.

I think he'll do okay. He's not a lock-down defender, but he's a decent athlete and has a good IQ. He'll be better than Mo and probably close to being on par with Devin Harris.

We get to see Burke and MCW head to head next Saturday. But if we are keeping both of our picks and not making any trades on or before draft day then realistically we are NOT sniffing Trey Burke's jock (pick) anymore after this tournament run on this stage. Maybe Marcus Smart might fall to us but probably not so either get use to MCW or C.J. McCollum.
