Not a surprise at all. My understanding is that they see Conley as a Grizzly for life.

In terms of guys who might be obtainable, Allen Crabbe anyone?

Why wouldn't they go all in on re-signing Conley? You'd be stupid to think they wouldn't. He is an UFA so it all depends on if he will re-sign with them. He might want to spread his wings, but with a decimated Griz team making the playoffs and Utah not doing so, I don't think Utah would be an option if he was going to go elsewhere.

Memphis can't really afford to gut their roster and tank in their market. They

Good for Memphis. Not really sure this matters to us though. With Exum back I doubt we're interested in signing FA point guards to long term contracts.

The Jazz need to be interested in signing a veteran PG. It would not be wise(imo) to bank on Dante being ready to lead a team to the playoffs coming off an ACL injury...in only his 2nd year...at 21 yrs old...

How wise would it be to sign a MAX PG when you drafted your future PG and sit him behind the bench. Then when it comes time to re-sign Exum he bolts for a bigger market and a starting job. The coaches seem to believe in Dante so why not shore up the bench with solid veterans which is really were the need is.

People seem to forget that Conley is coming off a major injury too. How do we know if he is going to be the same player?

The real problem is with our bench. I would rather over pay slightly for bench guys who have been successful in the league. Not DL guys or guys who are on their last legs.

Agree. And this is whyTeague - at the right price - would have been a great fit. He could have started next year until Exum was ready. Wouldn't be surprised if Teague was one of the deals DL had on the table that he said didn't go through.

We are not signing a max contract PG.

If that's true, maybe that deal comes back around.

By that same logic should we trade favors... Lyles has shown some serious potential. If we have the ability to sign Conley we do it... Period. Sounds like he will get the five year megamax so we are probably out of luck.

We control Exum. If he blows up we can match any contract he gets. Having him blow up and having another borderline all star at the position would be ideal... Move Conley or play them together.

Makes a lot of sense. We need a bit of mentoring in this team, experience.

I've always been a big fan of Conley, Kind of a dream situation for him to come to Utah, but it ain't happening. Memphis is gonna throw a ton of money at him. And if he does leave he wont come to Utah, he wants to play for a winning team if he leaves, not a team that has missed the playoffs 4 straight years

it hasn't occurred to you that with the trajectory the Jazz are on and if Conley was added to the team that it wouldn't be a winning team battling for home court ?? Which is all Memphis can hope for

Defensively he's ready. Not offensively, but Hayward hood and Burks pretty much run the O anyway and Mack is great off the bench. Regardless, u start Exum. Depending on his play, u play him 20-24 mins and let him try to earn more, but u go all in. As long as injuries stay under control the Jazz make the playoffs. Unless we sign a star we aren't contending, so why not roll with Exum.
