What's new

Met D-Will this weekend.

Just curious. Who would take Deron for a guaranteed 3 years in exchange for Favors, Kanter, Harris, and the GS pick?

For real. not being a hater. I would not knowing what I know about him and that is he is not a leader and a cancer, like the WHOLE colon cancer.

I've moved on, but to not want Deron back is ****ing lunacy. Even if it didn't work out the second time around, you CAN still trade him (and get another haul).

I wouldn't mind Deron coming back once AK and Memo are gone. I get the feeling he'd be a little happier playing under Corbin and Hornacek, and by that time Hayward could be an all-star caliber player.

you mean for the exact same trade package we gave him up for? the trade you floated there just undoes the february trade... you probably know that, which means you're most likely trying to make a point. so what's the point?

No way I would. Not simply because I feel the value of Favors, Kanter, Harris, and GS pick outweigh Deron's value. But he already (supposedly) had one foot out the door. So why would we want him back for one year?

I think it's pretty obvious that his point deals with the fact that we knew DWill was on his way out. Given that knowledge, the deal KOC pulled off was a no-brainer. But if you could have Deron for another 3 years guaranteed, would you stick with him, or stick with the pieces we got from NJ?

i guess in my mind it comes down to this -- was deron going to lead us to a championship in the next three years? if the answer is no, then doesn't it make sense to reload for the future?

of course, that question begs the subsequent one: are favors, kanter and harris going to lead us to a championship in the next five? the answer there might not be much more likely than the other one, but at least you give yourself a chance by starting over with some young talent on rookie contracts.

Don't know if anyone knew this or not, but the Mavericks 5-year window closed about 4 years ago.
