Mighty Quin interested in Spur's Assistant Engelland

But does GSW really need him? I mean, they have Klay & Curry for a backcourt. As a coach, you want to feel like you're making an impact on a player, and I'm not sure he would get that satisfaction there. How much better could Steph & Klay get?

At least Utah would be a real challenge for him. Hard to imagine us getting him, though.

Iggy could use some help.

This is pretty much exactly how I see it as well. Snyder will have his hands in both offense and defense. Jones/Engelland would be primarily offensive coaches, while Jensen is primarily the head defensive assistant. Any other assistants hired would help out in their areas of expertise. Maybe give Karl Malone an expanded role with the Big Men and hire both him and John Stockton and official Coaching Consultants to help the young guys truly understand P&R.

All this gets blown up if they can somehow hire Messina as Associate Head Coach. He'd fill Jones' role. I'd still try to hire Engelland and then would likely promote Jensen to the bench as well. Not sure what to do with Jones in that situation. I like him, and I'd love to have him on staff somewhere. . . but I wouldn't pass up adding Messina and Engelland if the opportunity was there.

It has been reported that Messina is going to the Spurs.

And then the GM came out and said that report wasn't accurate. They may very well have something worked out, but it's not official yet (and may never come about). Until it is official, I'd be doing everything I can to get him.

GM said there wasn't an opening on the coaching staff. There likely is once Pops retires after this championship.

Fair point. I think that it seems pretty clear that Messina isn't going to come to Salt Lake. I've decided to throw my hope into them actually getting Chip Engelland. I hope they pull out all the stops to get him. Think that his particular skill set is extremely valuable for a young team like the Jazz.
