I was afraid this guy was gonna land in the Pac12 but I thought it would be at one of the Arizona schools or UCLA. Pretty impressive that Wazzu stepped up and snagged him.

I've also heard that Chris Peterson (Boise St coach) is being asked out by UCLA....

Folks, the dumbass Utes missed out on a huge opportunity. Who knows when they'll be able to play for a Pac-12 champ again? Might be a while folks...

What's funny is that the former Wash St. coach had a salary of something like 600k per year. They're reportedly offering leach $2 million in base salary alone with other perks depending on how he does.

Sounds like someone is eager to jumpstart their football program.

I'm really just wondering why you care. Seriously, you aren't a Utah fan.

I wouldn't get too carried away with lost chances. While I think Leach is a GREAT hire by WSU, let's see why type of kids he can get to Pullman. Getting Texas talent to go to Lubbock VS getting Texas talent to go to Pullman is going to be a completely different animal. I'm also a little relieved that he ended up at WSU as opposed to UCLA or ASU. I think his ability to snatch-up talent would have been amplified at those two spots.

As far as Utah not knowing when they'll be able to play for a PAC title, I actually think they're in a favorable position. They'll return a very good squad next year, USC will be without Barkley and I still believe it's only a matter of time before Lane Kiffin ruins that program. UCLA, ASU, and Arizona will all be breaking in new coaches with new systems, all 3 schools are losing long-time starting QB's, etc.

If Utah can get a kid playing QB who they can count on for the next few years (this is where Travis Wilson hopefully comes in), they may actually be able to make a run at the South title for the next few years.

This is a good hire for WSU, but the notion that they somehow are going to turn into a force overnight is laughable. Ditto Rodriguez at Arizona, or whoever at UCLA and/or ASU. There's more to football than the profile of the head coach.
