What's new

Millsap left off All-Star ballot.

I think this "Center or Power Forward" argument is meaningless when it comes to all-star ballots. Al Jefferson does not deserve to be in that list, if Paul is not included. By the way, why Memo, WTF?

I think this "Center or Power Forward" argument is meaningless when it comes to all-star ballots.

It does actually, when it comes to being in the ballot, as there are separate lists for "guards", "forwards" and "centers".

The Western forwards list was pretty competitive but still Millsap was better than many, if not most, of them. The centers list wasn't as competitive I thought; Jefferson would surely make the list if he was entered in that positon, especially in a list where they felt they can slot in Okur there.

While we're talking about the million reasons all-star voting is stupid, I hate how they won't list players at their actual positions. If Tim Duncan hasn't been playing center for the Spurs the past 2 seasons then who has? Matt Bonner? Dajuan Blair? Gasol could also easily be listed at center since he plays there 50% of the time with Bynum always injured. If they're not going to list players at their actual positions they should get rid of the requirement that each team must have 2 centers - or the "Jamaal Magloire" rule.

Never been a giant fan of the all-star game (although the extra-curricular activities are fun to watch - skills challenge, 3 pt shootout, etc.). It's just a popularity contest among fans and the only spots that really mean anything are those selected by the coaches, and even then it is just for a single game. If it is enough to help motivate some (D Will among them) to raise the level of their play, then it serves a purpose, otherwise it just doesn't matter.
