Millsap starting

What matters to me is that it indicated the head coach either made a bad choice for the starting lineups to begin the season OR he cannot stick to the decision that he made.

And you would come to the same conclusion if it was Bell taken out of the starting lineup?

This is what I don't get. Corbin is getting killed by sticking with lineups during the game, but is getting killed for changing the lineup.

Stop using the lineup as an excuse to complain. Just say, "Don't play Bell, Harris, or Jefferson" and be done with it. Or if you're actually going to tear into the coach, tear into him for not getting his team to play hard or try to execute properly.
I've been consistent on 2 things with regards to lineup since the lockout ended.

1. Bell should not be on the team let alone actually playing.

2. Millsap and Jefferson together are a terrible defensive lineup and should not be on the court at the same time.

There are a lot of things that you can bag on Corbin for. The team showing no energy is a primary one. But I am hoping that he is having a learning curve like a lot of the players are. I just hope he does not destroy some of the talent on this team due to his lack of experience. Looking back on it, I was behind the hiring. But that was before this was an extremely young team. With a young team I wonder if they would not have been much better off with an experienced head coach.

Why can't we just try out what was discussed all Summer long? Run with Millsap at the 3 while keeping Al Jeff and Favors starting as well?

Edit: Just saw some of the posts and looks like that's been brought up, but it does need to happen!
I'd like to see it, too. The problem there is that Ty still seems committed to getting minutes for Bell and CJ, which means Hayward almost has to play the 3 (if he's going to get significant minutes).

Yanking Favors after 2 games is disconcerting. He's been our best defensive big man so far. Hopefully he gets plenty of touches on the second unit.

Which begs the obvious question, why the %$#*&@ is Bell still starting? What the blue blazes is it going to take for Corbin to sit his worthless backside down? Corbin seems to suffer from the same irrational infatuation for Bell that Sloan had. God, it's frustrating to see him getting significant minutes. I wish to heck we wouldn't have signed him. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll tear a ligament in his knee. Not that I wish injury to anyone (Kobe excepted), but I get the feeling that's what it is going to take. Hell, I prefer CJ to Bell, that's how bad he is.

What does it matter if Favors gets the same amount of minutes or more?

Well, for starters I think it's a big red flag that our head coach had all offseason to ponder what he'd like to do with the combo of Favors and Sap and once he made the decision he was only able to stick with it for 2 games. Not only that, but even if Favors gets the same amount of minutes, he still probably sees this as a demotion after only getting 2 games to prove himself as a starter. This makes it more likely that Favors starts playing with one eye towards the bench because he's afraid that his next foul/mistake will get him yanked out of the game or cause him to lose even more minutes.

That is not how you develop young talent. Period. If Ty was this wishy-washy about who was going to start at the 4, he would have been better served to keep Milsap as the starter and told Favors that he would have to play his way into the starting lineup as opposed to naming a 20 year old the starter and then yanking the rug out from under him with the season only 96 minutes old.

Not trying to offend here, but saying that this move may not matter if Favors ends up getting the same amount of minutes is really dumbing down the situation. There's quite a bit of ramifications to consider with this move. Most importantly IMO: At this point, I have to question whether or not we have a head coach with the stones necessary to make a decision and stand by it.

This also smacks of panic. In my opinion, either you're committed to the youth movement or you're not. At some point in the season if it's just not working, then I get making a change. But two games in??? It's waaay to early to push the panic button.

Good.

Favors hasn't just been underwhelming, he's been bad. I don't know why so many people seem to be opposed to someone earning something. Millsap's been the only guy on the team that's showed up.

If Favors really has what it takes to be the guy, then this will help him.

P.S. BIG AL is a BIG PROBLEM. It's a damn shame his salary and his reputation demand that he start no matter what.

EDIT: One last thing to add/clarify: I'm not a fan of how this may impact Favors and his development, but the clear-cut best player on the team shouldn't be coming off the bench in any universe, either. There is a sore thumb sticking the **** out, and it doesn't know how to do anything outside of the left block on offense.

How has Millsap been an improvement over Favors? Millsap comes in and the opponents PF goes off and the Jazz lose touch with the other team. Favors is superior defensively. I actually agree that Jefferson is the problem though.

People are not opposed to Millsap starting. From what I have seen most of the posters here want a Favors-Millsap starting lineup.

Well what do you know.... the Jazz look a lot better and win with Paul Millsap and Favors starting

The Jazz played Jazz basketball much better with Big Al not on the floor. Only 1 game but it was interesting to see.

I'd also like to echo WTF on Bell continuing to start.
So would I, normally, although I was at the game (in the cumulus section), and Bell didn't seem to do much, but it seemed like his man didn't score much. Howard and CJ each coming in were better in some ways and worse than others. But net net, Bell seems to continue to not warrant the PT that he's getting, and Burks should get some of Bell's.
