No we didn't have to sign somebody to reach the floor. We could have just gave bonuses to the players on the team to meet the min payroll. Or we could have waited to see if something really good came available. My entire point.

So you're saying what I just said prior. Either we take these guys on and the picks or we pay the difference to the guys on the roster.... Either way we are paying. In your scenario, we hope that a better deal presents itself around the deadline(which is not guaranteed) and we pay the roster the difference if that deal doesn't come along or we don't take enough back. In the scenario we took, we get these guys(all on expiring deals), 2 unprotected first round picks in 2014 and 2017, 2 second rounders, and pay these guys instead of spreading the wealth around the roster. Oh and we get our cap space back after the season..... So, yeah, I will take this deal instead of counting on a hail mary at the deadline that might not be available at all.

It was actually 2 ACL surgeries. I made the mistake of thinking it was three when I read the Wikipedia article about him. Not that two isn't bad, but three is definitely worse.

Just a BTW but he has had 2 knee injuries not 3. One in 2007 at Kansas and then the one he is recovering from. Get your facts right at least.
