Mixed Martial Arts / UFC

i was in shock and awe how the undefeated jon bones jones broke down shogun(yes i know he has 1 losS in his record but it isnt really a loss just an unfortunate accident a illegal elbow or some weak stuff).
IT WAS A WORK OF ART.

On a side note i think its time for CroCop to hang up his mma gloves. after watching his last few fights he seems non interested/slow and old. i might be wrong though.

We share the same opinions Dutch.

It was an incredibly artful and disciplined approach from Jon Jones. One of the most amazing displays of singular focus I have ever seen...much like the Randy Couture/ Tim Sylvia display. Jon Jones is so under control it boggles my mind. He never, at any point, doubted his game plan...even when he got Rua on the ropes in the first round he did not go in for the kill...knowing that Rua was still a dangerous foe.

And yes, sadly, CroCop needs to retire.

for a moment during the first or second round i almost got the i hate this bones guy moment.
he started dancing and prancing around like anderson silva. I hate that showboating prick.

so just for a few moments bones started showboating good thing he stopped or i would never ever root for that guy. when ur in the cage you FIGHT. you dont dance like silva. if you can finish your oppenent in 10 seconds you do it in try and finish it in 8 seconds. not dance around for 15 minutes and then not finish him.

but other than that no complaints about bones.

i don't know if its me or was it just a weak card. i was only interested in the crocop and bones fight. the rest where lame fillers. maybe if akiyami and chael sonnen fought as originally planned it would have been a slighty better card

the 129 fight card seems better
# Welterweight Championship bout: Canada Georges St-Pierre (c) vs. United States Jake Shields
# Featherweight Championship bout: Brazil José Aldo (c) vs. Canada Mark Hominick
# Light Heavyweight bout: Brazil Lyoto Machida vs. United States Randy Couture

also nate diaz has a match

I picked Rua to win, but knew deep down that Bones would likely win. I am going to say that a rematch will happen, and Rua will be better prepared and will dominate, much like Machida/Rua 2. Anyhow, good for Jones, I can't wait for him to wreck Rashad Evans and Anderson Silva. (it will happen, trust me)

As for 129, it's a good card, but seriously, I loathe Jake Shields. Besides Randy Couture and Jon Fitch, Shields is the most boring fighter on the planet. Lay and pray, baby. Wow, what a horrible match that is going to be. Hooray for 5 round decisions! Aldo is going to butt rape Hominick, and Machida is going finish Randy.

Dutch, I never took anything Jones did as being flashy at all. I didnt see prancing or dancing. That's not his style or demeanor. His technique involves unorthodoxy and Jones looks to be a true student of the game. He's been an examplar of true talent, control and discipline. And with his humbleness and lack of post win celebration, he is a joy to watch.

I agree with you regarding Silva. Though his arrogance in the cage has much to do with his culture. But I am not a fan of it. That said, Silva is incredible.

Yes, it was a very weak card...boring as ****.

Rua? really? I have nothing against Rua but the guy looked incredibly intimidated. Rua is a phenomenal talent but he was outclassed. Jones was faster, stronger, quicker. So completely under control.

I think he'll beat Evans as well. Though, Evans doesnt always get the respect he deserves. And in regards to Silva...not sure sure. Dude is too ****ing good...I cant call that one.

Shields is garbage.

It wont happen. chael sonnen will be back and rape anderson silva again this time the ref wont do end the fight on a fake tap. yes its not a tapout what happened. and silva will be fired for dancing to much we will see silva dominating on ameirca got tallent or another lame *** reality dance show

just rewatched the fight at 1:43 remaining in the 1st round it loked like jones could have finished rua. rua was with his back to the cage taking knees and punchesabout 5 seconds. i thought the fight was over then but jones backed off lowered his hands. and did some side kicks to the knee. i guess maybe he was conserving energy but it did seem a bit cocky. at about 4:30 remaining in the second round he backed off again. and kinda arrogantly stood with he hands a bit lowered. keeping distance with his left hand.
at 3:27 remaining in snd round he just stood with his right hand outstreched. periodically touching rua's hand. at times it jsut seemed arrogant maybe he wasnt maybe it wasnt his itentional it wasn't as blatant as silva so maybe i used silva as a wrong example.

but i might not know much seeing as i practice mma once a week for only about 8 months orso.

I want nothing more than Sonnen to win, but it just isn't going to happen. Silva looked like dog turds in that fight and I guarantee you that it won't happen again.

we will know if sonnen will return to the ufc his sentencing is march 28 he'll probably receive no jail term. just some community service. so the rematch might happen this year
