MOAR RUMORS

He's a multimillionaire living in one of the best cities in the world. Yeah, pure moron.

This is what Locke said. I don't agree. His basketball career is halfway over. He could retire anywhere in the world, and his NBA paycheck would be similar to his ACB check. Competitors seek competition, they aren't content with being the big fish in a small pond.

Why do you want to trade him away without even caring what you get? What have you seen that tells you Neto is worthless.

He's currently a historically bad shooter for the PG slot, and I wouldn't expect his 3-pt numbers to increase with the extended NBA line. He shot 66% from the FT line last year, indicating that he truly doesn't have a good shot and it's not just shot selection. Oddly, his shooting numbers have regressed the older he's gotten.

Pretty good assist numbers for the foreign leagues, and he seems to be a good, smart distributor. Gambles a lot on defense, probly no more than an average man defender. I haven't seen much that would indicate he could be even a decent backup.

The reason I would trade him for peanuts is bc he's easily replaceable, and Trey Burke is easily better than him. So is Cotton. Hell, Kendall Marshall is better than him and he can't find anywhere to play. So what value do you see from him?

All I've seen are a few Summer League games two years ago and a couple of World Cup games. I felt like he had very competent leadership skills. I remember one Wold Cup game where he looked particularly good. His passing was excellent and his shooting seemed good as well. I haven't looked at his stats (didn't even look at his measurables until someone mentioned them in this thread). I'm surprised to hear the percentages are as bad as you say. I'm going to look into that in more detail.

Last year he shot 20% from 3 and 66% from the FT line. Not good.

Perhaps there are different levels of "competitive" natures. Sounds like he's a guy who has used his physical attributes to earn millions and decided to balance his wife's desires with his career objectives. So he's settled for several million dollars and an amazing city.

Maybe not the choice you would have made, but he made it. Time to move on.

I was really never salty about it to begin with, so nothing really to move on from. Just making an observation about what his decision says about his thought process, and why we might be better off without him.

Did anyone else catch the report on Hoops Rumors that Snyder turned down multiple trade offers involving Exum? Who knows if there's any truth to this, but it is interesting considering the fact that Neto is in town & Lyles remains unsigned. The report states that Snyder believes in his character & expects major improvements (or something along those lines), but it makes you at least wonder. More than likely it was just other teams inquiring about Dante rather than the FO actively pursuing a trade, but it's still interesting none the less. If Snyder was asked for his input, it could indicate that DL is/was considering making a trade to potentially elevate the team to that next level (by upgrading at the PG position). Would love to know the specific proposals, if there were in fact any actually offers made.

I saw a report that multiple teams called DL asking about the availability of Exum. Synder basically said he doesn't want him going anywhere because that's his guy and he believes in him.

Something of that sort.

I'm sure the bids were low. Probably GM's "bargain hunting" hoping we might have given up on him or didn't have the patience to develop him.

Re: Exum trade offers

I agree that GM's were likely just looking to buy low, but the fact that Snyder was consulted makes me wonder if any of the proposals were legitimately considered. What I also found interesting was that it was Snyder, rather than DL, making the comments & although it could be meaningless, it could also indicate that there is some sort of differing in opinion between the 2 regarding either Exum &/or our approach to the off-season. Snyder's comments sounded like a coach publicly supporting one of his players, which typically occurs when that player is either struggling &/or being discussed in trades.

I'm not advocating that we trade him by any means, but as the roster currently stands, PG is clearly our weakest position (production wise) & with the fact that we could essentially lose Hayward for nothing in 2 years (just as Exum projects to be ready to contribute), I wouldn't be surprised if DL was exploring potential trades to bring in established players who could push the team to contender status for the duration of Hayward's remaining contract. I love Exum's physical tools, defense, court-vision, character, & potential, but out of our core assets, he appears to be the most likely to be traded (due to the fact that he is still several years away from reaching his potential), along with (1 or the other) Hayward (due to his contract situation). There's probably nothing to the rumor, but I still believe that there is a decision to be made regarding prioritizing the short-term/long-term, so it will be interesting to see if anything eventually comes from this.

Dear heavens, sounds like they want Exum in place of Burke on the trade for PG!!!!
