Assume the Cavs get Bynum.

Two teams stand out to me along with the Jazz, and that's the Rockets and Pelicans. Obviously OKC is still in the mix too. I should list them.

The Blazers don't have enough inside presence to contend. The Wizards also have a weak front court right now. I'm not seeing enough defense on the Cavs, although they are built to try to re-recruit Lebron James. The Warriors don't have much inside game, and they're relying on Bogut being healthy.

It looks like the future of the Western Conference is going to continue to be tough--Thunder, Rockets, Jazz and Pelicans.

I think we're going to have a hard time beating the Thunder unless Kanter outclasses Steven Adams and we get a stud SF.

lol why?

Good thread btw, just think its weird to include a guy on a team that he isnt actually on.

Cavs just offered Bynum a 2 year / $24M deal.

I tell you what. If Bynum turns it down, I'll edit the OP.

The point is to compare promising young teams. You can caveat your opinion pending Bynum's grand decision.

Haha alright.

Honestly, its really really hard to grade the teams you listed. All have tons of potential.

Have to go Thunder #1 and probly have to go Houston #2 with Harden and Dwight (although I'm not convinced Dwight ever becomes Orlando Dwight again).

After that its pretty even.

If we can get Wiggins/Jabari next year though, I'd say we're at least 3rd on the list.

I'm concerned about the Pelicans too. I think Anthony Davis is going to be trouble. J'rue is only 23, and Tyreke finally has a reason to try hard. Plus they've got stretch 4s in Ryan Anderson and Jason Smith. Fortunately, they traded out their first round pick next year to Philly.

I'm not diggin the Warriors' interior defense and rebounding. Relying on Bogut isn't a good idea. Plus the Jazz just heisted half of GS's draft picks in the next 4 years.

The Cavs are undersized at SG and PF, and the center position is shaky. I'd put the Jazz and Pelicans tied for third until we see how our and their young players develop.

Well I think the Curry/Thompson/Barnes trio is one of the best young backcourt trio, if not the best backcourt in the NBA period when their shooting is on.

Plus they have proven that they're elite. Can't say the same about us or the Pelicans.

The Thunder and Rockets (in that order, IMHO) are clearly the cream of the crop.

After that, an argument could be made for damn near any of them. I'd throw the Pistons on that list, too. That frontcourt is absurd (backcourt needs to pan out, however).

How much patience is given? If it is another 2-3 seasons. Rockets. And if luck protects the young players from injuries, why not the Jazz?
