Motion Millsap is our offensive sniper rifle

I think the Spurs are weakest on the weak side high block. Millsap has come a long way perfecting his mid-range game this season, and I don't see either Splitter or Blair keeping up with him. Let's forget about Jefferson getting their bigs in foul trouble. Let him wear on Duncan while Millsap works the opposite side. Millsap knows how to get to the line and I see him putting up 12-14 per game torching Splitter with this one set while getting to the line 7-8 attempt per game.

That's my best aside from running the walkers and canes out of the gym.

Sap just has to stay away from the fades. He won't drive effectively on the block against Blair but he'll have no problem getting his top of the key jumpers or getting step backs. He'll be plenty good on cuts. It's when he tries a low block move, fumbles, and then fires up a fade or ugly off balance shot that he gets himself in trouble.

We're going to get killed.

I was thinking to the right of the key 5-6 feet or so. Why do you think he can get his jumpers but not drive on Blair too? I realize Blair is deceptive compared to how he looks but why can't Sap pump fake him and use his body to draw contact before getting his shot off? Sap often looks akward to me but ends up coming out shining in the efficiency column. Also, it might not work excellent but it should draw fouls and put Blair's *** next to Gregg Popapill.

Blair is considered a sub-par defender, and Sap would completely dummy him as a result
-> Due to this, Blair is going to get even less minutes than normal. The Spurs signing Diaw was a big blow to their ;ack of frontcourt depth, from or perspective. Blair won't get nearly as many minutes, seeing as he has a more effective Splitter, and a more-versatile Diaw in front of him rotation-wise.

I think Millsap could definitely school Diaw though, and I also think that he could do an admirable job of defending Steven Jackson, and his ~30% 3P%. Can he defend Leonard? Maybe not as well-it is something we will have to say. Regardless, Millsap will be a HUGE X-Factor in this series, and he will be largely responsible for carrying the offense of our bench throughout the series (assuming Ty resumes his sub-patterns of taking Sap out a bit early, and giving him good burn in the 2nd quarter).

Honestly, we need so many things to fall in our favour, and even after this, we will probably still lose. Harris needs to play out of his mind, Al needs a renewed effort on defense, Sap needs to exploit his mismatches, and Favors needs to stay out of foul trouble. In all honesty, I don't see Hayward having a very large impact on this series, outside of the fast break game. Manu is a stellar defender, and we should focus our offense more on exploiting our strength in the forecourt, as well as dishing open looks to Hayward and Harris when Al is doubled.

Don't get me wrong, Sap can shoot over Blair all day. But Blair's a widebody who knows how to use it (a poor man's Hayes). And Sap doesn't have great moves in the face up game. So I don't really like the one on one matchup of Sap just going at Blair (in fact, I think it leads to fades which I hate to see him take). I do like Sap's ability to get his shots on the high elbow, top of the key, or just catching and shooting. I just hope Sap will take his set shots and not try to do too much on the drive because guys like Blair make him try off balance Kobe shots.

You guys all killed it. I got nothing except.... I am like a 50 calibar rifle on Jazzfanz. You know, while we are comparing things.

Millsap needs to go through one of those stretches were he hits all his midrange shots.
Exactly.

I am going out on a limb as saying Millsap will have at least one game where he gets in the zone, if not every game. Dude is clutch. We have our superstar. Millsap always come through.

Im predicting Millsap hits 13 in a row at some point

...I'm going on the record here....if we only lose by single digits in either of the first two games....we will win both of our home games!

In all my over-caffeinated ranting yesterday about Harris and Jefferson, I was taking as given the fact that Millsap is our best weapon in the series. I don't see anybody on the Spurs who can consistently guard him; he can score in too many ways and from many different spots. Fading, driving, whatever... The ball should move thru him. I've decided in advance to be happy with 99% of the shots he takes.

Hit your damn free throws, though.
