At the 6th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft the Utah Jazz select...Kahwi Leonard

with the 12th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft the Utah Jazz select...Jimmer Fredette

There is a very real chance the Jazz could draft two MWC products, not saying I would or like the thought of drafting them or the Morris twins, but its possible, so whats your thoughts if the Jazz do?

Kahwi is an interesting prospect. His hands are huge. He has an awkward shot but he's extremely long and athletic but at the same time not a smooth athletic. Kind of like a Ron Artest semi awkward athleticism. I can see him being that 3rd or 4th guy on a really good team. Doing the dirty work etc. I think he's a stretch at 6 but I could live with it if the Jazz picked him up.

Not picking soley on d@!!0n0rcutt, but it amazes me how many thread titles have spelling or grammatical errors. If you're going to go to the trouble of creating a new thread, how hard is it to take an extra 5 seconds (maybe 30 seconds for some posters ;)) to re-read the title and ensure it says what you intended? Maybe you are posting a great message - but right off the bat you lose some credibility when you can't even get the title right. [steps down off of soapbox]

And the Jazz should pick the two best players - I could care less what conference they come out of but I hope the scenario the OP presented doesn't come to fruition.

It's very possible. Who thought we where going to draft Gordon Hayward at 9 this past draft? I could see the Jazz stretching to get Leonard (if they really like him). Then taking the local hero, Jimmer at 12. It would address three primary areas of concern (rebounding, shooting, and perimeter defense).

Let me borrow that soap box for a second...His name is spelled KAWHI, not Kahwi.
OK you can have your soap box back now.

i think they don't get along too well. i remember after a SDSU win Kawhi was clapping and laughing at Jimmer.

Artest at least showed ability to hit the 3 in college and was a much better defensive player. Kawhi would really be a reach at 6. i could see him falling out of the lottery because he lacks a offensive polish and isn't dominant defensively. And he played in the Mountain West, where we see MWC player can fall in the draft.

As far as Jimmer I could see him being the right guy at #12

I think some people would debate for Leonard at #12 but the jazz would take Jimmer over Leonard.

As disappointed as I will be if Jimmer is the best choice at 12, taking Leonard at 6 would be even worse. We don't need a wing who can't shoot.

I would love to land Leonard at the #12. Guy is a good rebounder, good defender, moderately athletic, and can hit the open 3. What more do you want from your SF? That has always been my prototypical SF for success. If we can get some luck in the lottery and land in the top 3 I'd be more than happy if our team was this for the future:

Knight
Hayward
Leonard
Jefferson
Favors

Watson (or filler PG in a few years)
Miles
Evans
Millsap
Fes (ideally not, but just another filler center)

Since when did Leonard develop a consistent 3-point shot? He's a good athlete and all, but the biggest knock on him is in fact his shooting (32% on catch-and-shoot jumpers) and you're the first person I've seen say he "can hit the open 3." I don't know how shooting sub-30% every season from 20 feet 9 inches will translate to moving 3 feet back against better athletes that close out quicker in the NBA.

Chad Ford sounded pretty impressed by his improved stroke. Albeit we haven't seen him put that into effect in a real game, it is reasonable to think that he will improve his shot. Hayward shot the same % from 3 his sophomore year that Leonard did. He worked hard to improve his range and it worked. Maybe Leonard can do the same.

To say Leonard CAN'T hit the open 3 is more of stretch than saying he CAN in my opinion. I watched a lot of SDSU games this past season and I am surprised to see his 3 point percentage so low. I knew he wasn't lights out by any means, but it seemed like he hit a lot more than he did. Maybe I just watched the right games or something.. But there is one big factor that is hard if not impossible to teach and that's his unrelenting drive. I don't think we could get better value at the 12th pick. Unfortunately, I'm certain he will be gone by then.

Hayward also shot 45% from 3 in the prior season - while Leonard shot 20%. Hopefully Chad Ford is correct when he talks about his improved stroke in recent workout - it's just to this point he hasn't shown it in live game action.
