Movie Question

I saw a movie a while ago where a "bad" (had 3 members in it and wore masks) family holds a "good" family hostage and the "bad" family eventually kills everyone off before they could get away. Sounds pretty vague but does anyone know what I'm talking about? It's probably atleast 4 years old and I can't remember what the name is

The Devil's Rejects? You have to specify more details in order to get a possible right answer. Don't you remember anything else?

I immediately thought of The Strangers but it's a couple, not a family, whose taken hostage and killed. But the far majority of the movie is simply the three masked individuals psychologically tormenting this couple in the home. They're not taken hostage til the very end.

I heard a sequel is in pre-production.

Liv Tyler's character must have lived because she's supposed to reprise her role

My initial thought too.

I actually really liked the movie. It got medicore/poor review for the most part but I thought it was stylish and that the director did a good job using silence as a weapon of fear. That, the creepy masks, and the mind games the "strangers" were using to torment Liv and her BF were solid I thought.

And are you serious about Tyler?

Then you probably liked Funny Games too.

It was reviewed much better, was the better film, and was more truly frightening to me, but I'm not sure I liked it as much. It was good though.

At the end of the day too, in The Strangers, I believe two of the three perps were female. Sort of silly really as they were almost always intruding individually. I would have just clocked one of the chicks, taken her ax (or whatever other dumb weapon she had), tied her up, and then waited to kick the **** out of numeros two and three. But whatever, I still liked it.

I hated Funny Games, I heard good things, was really excited, and then was just bored for 2 hours. The Strangers on the other hand actually had me jumping quite a bit, and used silence to create an ominous dreadful feeling the whole time, I really enjoyed it. That being said they should have just chilled out in the bedroom and shot anyone that came near it ( rest in peace Dennis Reynolds) but all horror movies use idiocy to advance the plot.
