Give up too much for a star and you end up with trying to overpay for FA's.

Umm. I wouldn't touch Embiid with a ten foot pole. Back issues on a big is asking for disaster. Huuuuge risk! A franchise guy is someone who can come in here and change a face of a franchise for the next 20 years. You are willing to trade a proven nba player for a non NBA player with a bad back? Ummm no thanks.
I'd say 2015 is too soon. I'd do that trade but swap the rights to 2017 or 18.
And to be honest, and I know this is kind of dumb, but I think I rather give up Kanter than the 2017 GS pick.
IMO he is basically Roy Hibbert with borderline Ibaka athleticism. I know the Ibaka comp is a stretch, but he really is a great great athlete for someone his size. Lets trade everyone we've got and play him at 1-5.
He has more offensive potential than either Ibaka or Hibbert IMO. Considering his age and experience, his footwork is pretty advanced.IMO he is basically Roy Hibbert with borderline Ibaka athleticism. Sure couldn't find anyone to add to the Deron, Boozer, Memo, AK team. The league was also a lot different back then. I bet the Jazz could find better complimentary pieces in FA today than they could back then.
What exactly are you advocating? It seems as though you're saying the Jazz should neither do whatever necessary to get superstar-caliber talent nor collect a bunch of all-star/borderline all-star talent. Should they try to build a championship team with bad players?Sure couldn't find anyone to add to the Deron, Boozer, Memo, AK team.
Wait, I take that back...we added Derek "Please release me from my contract so I can be closer to my family" Fisher.
