My draft-day trade idea

Another draft trade thread. My only excuses are that I haven't made one of these yet and I think I might be onto something. Check it out:

Utah agrees to trade #3 (Kanter) to Washington under the following conditions:

1. Before hand, WASH executes a trade with TOR for #5, giving back their #6 and #34 + cash
2. Utah trades #3 + 2012 2nd rounder for WASH's #5 + a 2012 top-3 protected pick (which becomes unprotected in 2013)

I've been perplexed by the lack of Kanter rumors, and this trade scenario solves that dilemma. Let me explain. If TOR is convinced that we're taking Knight, and that was their guy at 5, then what's to lose by dropping a spot and picking up a 2nd rounder that could yield Jenkins, Butler, Selby, Jackson, Tyler, or Mack? Seems plausible. I'd do it if I were them.

The Wizards, like us, have too much youth, so parlaying this year's 2nd rounder into next year makes administrative sense, plus they get their man (Kanter).

Utah still gets Knight, who might end up being the best PG in this draft, and picks up a high pick in next year's draft, i.e. they make out like bandits.

thoughts?

if we don't have a second-rounder next year, then substitute a 2013 second round pick. Whatever.

Good trade for the Jazz but terrible for both Washington and Raptors. Raptors would lose the possibility of drafting Knight and the Wizards give up way to much to move up 2 spots

Don't get hung up on a detail. If next year's first is too much, then think about the trade scenario with WASH including this year's #18 instead. But, is that enough for the #3? The subtle point is that the Knight rumors are utilized in this scenario.
