My thoughts on the Jazz

At this point, if the Jazz just make a minor deal something like Raja Bell for a 2nd I will be happy. Granted they still have tommorow to make a trade but all signs are pointing towards the Jazz not making a trade.
The Jazz's best young players go in order like this respectively: Favors, Burks, Hayward and Kanter. They will probably stand pat at this trade deadline, make a strong playoff push get the 6th or 7th seed and depending on who they play give them a run for their money.
Jazz get two picks in the draft the first one probably around 14-16 and the second one around 18-20 and we will get one of the following: Michael Carter-Williams, Trey Burke or C.J. McCollum, with the other pick the Jazz go BPA.
They will let Millsap walk and re-sign Jefferson to a 3-year deal $38-40 million deal and Favors becomes a full time starter with Kanter as the 3rd big.
They will also re-sign Williams and Foye to two-year deals each and Burks will become the starting two-guard and depending on whether Hayward is a two or three will determine if he starts or not as well.

Then when we have to pay our young guys we have too much money invested in Jefferson. We have to let at least one of them go. Jazz make the playoffs every year for the next 20 years but only get to the WCF once or twice. Things go on as they always have. Yay.

- Draft Burke ahead of MCW or CJ
- Re-sign Tinsley, Re-sign Watson
- Let Mo walks (he'll ask for longer contracts)
- Burke plays behind Tinsley during the 1st season, until Burke is ready to start (2nd half of 1st season IMO).

Who knows? But we don't have to look at just free agents. There could be teams interested in freeing up salary, either to go after FA's or to avoid the luxury tax. Houston scored big this past season, getting players at bargain prices. Other teams scooped up very good backups for a discount.

We'll have our starters in place. We can then look at rounding out the team, upgrading at the point, etc.

I think OKC is not mentally as strong as the Clippers... Clippers has Chris Paul... in the playoffs does a lot to win close games.

I agree with you that they are team first guys but the point guard position is not going to rest on either of their shoulders. Especially since Watson is always hurt.

That's exactly my point. If we draft Burke and sign Mo for 3 years. Burke just won't get to start if Ty is still the coach.

I think with the new CBA teams are going to be ultra conservation about giving max deals to anyone. I would hope the Jazz have learned their lesson on max contracts and don't pull that move if it comes to that though. I wouldn't be apposed to resigning Al at the right price and gradually moving him to the 3rd big as Kanter matures and demands more minutes over the next 2-3 seasons. I love Paul, but I think out of the two the organization is in love with Al Jefferson when it comes down to it.

Whats exactly your point? A rookie point guard is not going to start for the Jazz in the first 2 years with the team no matter who our other PG's happen to be. This is why it would be ideal to sign a player like Mo to 2-3 years (3 because he probably won't sign for 2) and gradually introduce your young drafted PG.
