the depth chart, by position, for this coming season. (exclude any new players - no draftees or FA's.. nada)

Fine.. (let's only go two deep on the depth chart, please)

PG - Exum / Burke
SG - Hood / Burks
SF - Hayward / Hood
PF - Favors / Booker
C - Gobert / Favors

Where would you disagree?

How it should be or how it will be? I think Burks will start(same thing about not losing your starting spot because of injury) but I think Hood should be starting and it's very possible by the end of the season he will start.

PG - Exum / Burke
SG - Burks / Hood/ Millsap
SF - Hayward / /Hood/ Jingles
PF - Favors / Booker
C - Gobert / Favors

Exum/Burks/Burke
Burks/Hood/Sap
Hayward/Hood/Jingles
Favors/Booker
Gobert

I like Hood coming off the bench and providing some of the same ingredients as Hayward. It'd be nice to have one of them on the floor at all times. I think Burks will be near 38% from 3 and his slashing will add a useful dynamic to that starting spot. Also, I think Burks' return makes Burke the 7th man; I see Alec playing a lot of minutes at the "1"

I've been posting this in other threads... With the theme of small ball, I'd really love to see a lineup of Exum-Burks-Hood-Hayward-Favors/Gobert with Hayward playing the infamous 'playmaking 4'... I don't know if would be successful, but I think it'd be fun to see and would love to see Quin experiment with that type of lineup.

I don't see Burks playing point/lead guard more than a few times for very limited minutes. Will be interesting to see.

I have always had a mild infatuation with that idea as well (Hayward at the point forward/PF role).

So in order of importance, it seems we need;

1) Either a backup C or a stretch 4.
2) Better shooting from the wings.
3) More veteran leadership/playmaking at PG.

Looks like our best trade bait without giving up tooo much is Burks.

Unfortunately Burks is basically untradeable coming of injury and his extention kicking in.
Exum, Burks, Hayward, favors, Gobert. Well be the starters when we go into the season but i see Hood taking over the starting 2 at some point

That rotation is ackward because either Burks or Hayward would have to come out around the 6 minute mark to let Hood into the game. I think the good doctor nailed it, with Burks coming in around nine or ten minutes into the game so that Hood can get a rest before relieving Hayward in the 2nd quarter. There were so many injuries last year that I think the starting 2 is up for grabs.

1. Kaminsky.
2. Kaminsky with Favors and Gobert on the floor.
3. Kaminsky as insurance backup behind Cotton.

On a more serious note, I don't believe Burks is very tradable. I doubt he holds much value currently, especially with a contract that is rather unproven to be commensurate with skill level and potential. He hasn't stood out except to Jazz fans (not saying this as an insult or saying that he won't be / isn't a good player) and his injury has likely taken him off any radars and made him of low relevance. The contract then sinks it. At the trade deadline this could obviously change but as it stands nobody is offering up anything for him that we would find desirable.

Can't trade Burks.... He did exactly what was asked of him the first hf of the season, increased his 3pt% and FG%. Most were disappointed cause he didn't go to the hole with as much ferocity, but we now know why!!

Depending on how sold you are on Burks or Hood our first need might be starting wing next to Hayward. Neither Burks nor Hood had established themselves as good starters and it's up in the air whether or not they will be good starting SGs. That's one of the reasons I think that if Johnson/Oubre/Booker are available, I wouldn't pass on any of them, simply because I think all of those have the potential to push our current wings and take the starting spot in due time. At the same time none of the prospects at 4/5 are likely to push Gobert/Favors(Maybe with exception of Turner if every single thing works out for him) for starting spot, but that's the position we most need depth at, simply because we have nobody else besides Gobert, Favors and Booker.

it's not about "lead guard" or "point guard" or whatever. The point is that you'll see plenty of the combo of Burks, Hood, and Hayward on the floor at the same time. That's why "1" was in scarequotes.

Well, first of all, we HAVE to go small ball since GS just won the championship.

That leaves Rudy and Favors out

We HAVE to match up with Golden State.

Exum
Burks
Hood
Ingles
Hayward

That's probably who I'm starting the season out with.

If that doesn't work, then I'll trade Favors for Porzingis, then swap Hayward and Porzingis positions. Put old Kristaps at the center position so I can have maximum floor spacing.

Small Ball

Bang!

DeMarre's measurements indicate that if Hayward can play any small-ball 4, then so can he.

We need DeMarre for a lot of reasons.

i'm whole-heartily giddy to see a healthy burks wreaking havoc next season. he's my starter.
