The way it was stated was as if his wife gave birth and he immediately abandoned her. It doesn't seem like that was the case. They had been separated for some time (months) and there wasn't any indication it was a matter of Nash abandoning her. People split up. Who knows what was wrong in their relationship. Women are just as capable of being horrible partners as men are.
