NBA.com amazing prediction science!

Those are probably the worst predictions I've ever seen in my entire life. They have the Raptors over the Magic in wins LOL?

(Before you go calling the NBA math police, remember these are PROJECTIONS based strictly on current point differentials and not anyone’s predictions for the season.)
Sure, we’re just a week into this marathon. So this all probably seems a bit much for those of you with a rigid, wide-angle view of the season. But we’re allowed to have fun around here.
And this math is plenty fun, especially with Schuh doing all the dirty work (here is the formula used to come up with “Expected Wins”).
Who knows, maybe Schuh will even get us a scalped ticket to the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference this year?

Emotional much?

Are you guys so dumb you don't know the difference between "projections" and "predictions"?

How innocent you are. It's almost endearing. Of course we understand that the blogger doesn't believe this will be the final outcome of the season. We also understand, believe it or not, that he simply took the total margin of points for each team (3 to 4 games worth) and "projected" the outcome based on those numbers. The point is, he posted an article about it. He gave it significance. I am making fun of that fact. Just like when someone says x-player's PER 40 is 120 ppg, based on hitting a 3-pointer in a minute of PT. He would be "projecting" as well. But that is a bit irrelevant, don't you think?
