I heard on SVP show that Charlotte may be looking to trade the pick for a marketable player/future cap room. The example they used was trading their top 3 pick to Chicago for Deng, so they got a big name but he was a FA next year, so they would have cap room.
What this tells me is:
1 - Al Jefferson/Dwight Howard/Andrew Bynum will receive max offers from Charlotte. I don't see Howard or Bynum going there.
2 - Al + Deng probably equals playoff run for Charlotte. That is more valuable to them than a top 3 pick this year.
3 - This gives them money to chase another star next to Al next summer.
Not a bad strategy for Charlotte. NOW, what can the Jazz do with this? It's too bad Marvin has sucked so badly. If he could have done anything half right, you might have been able to package Marvin and Burks to get Charlotte's pick.
