I never said he wouldn't be able to play. I said he wouldn't dominate at the same level. He would be stretched out on defense and guys would flop at his every dominant move.Prime Shaq is the most dominant player of all-time but yeah he wouldn’t be able to play in this era. Just some of the stupidest **** I’ve ever read.
I watched Zion take dudes off the dribble with an array of moves that shaq never employed. Also saw Zion team win more games without him than with him. (Doesn't mean much since he is so young and his team has gotten better while he was hurt)If you think Shaq wouldn't dominate in today's game go watch smaller Zion bullying his way through everyone.
He would score a bunch. In an inefficient way. He would get hack a shaqed. He would get doubled. Guys would flop when he bullied his way to the hoop and he would get in foul trouble. He would get hunted on the perimeter defensively. The man he was guarding would be setting screens on the perimeter and shaq would have to defend a guy on the 3 point line. I know he was more mobile when he was young but he still wasn't as mobile as a wing player.Prime Shaq was quick, lean and powerful. He was also fairly fast. Late career/fat Shaq would still be ok, but would give up a lot of open shots on the perimeter.
If you took prime Shaq and put him into today's NBA, no one could stop him or contain him. Very few could do a decent job back when the league was full of good big men.
I think Embiid is that good. He's just been banged up pretty severely and has always had questionable teammates. You don't remember prime Shaq and Hakeem. Prime Hakeem would be the MVP of the league right now.. crazy dominant on both sides of the ball. Embiid can only dream of being that good.
I wish we could find a way to keep those 3 guys. They will be in demand. Everyone wants that kind of player especially on a favorable contract.Funny thing is that on the jazz roster only 2 players would fit the mold of what im looking for. Danuel House jr and Eric Paschall lol. (young rudy gay fits the mold as well. He is the type of player I like)
House is 6 foot 7 and 220 pounds. Can handle, shoot (45% from the field and 42% from 3), defend, rebound, etc.
Paschall is 6 foot 6 and 255. Can handle, shoot (49% from the field and 37% from 3) defend, rebound, etc.
Young rudy gay: 6 foot 8 and 250 lbs. Can handle, shoot (between 45-50% from the field and about 35% from 3. 16-20 ppg), defend, rebound, etc.
And none of those guys played much for the jazz lol. So what do I know. I think the jazz could and should use more players in that mold but they have been a pretty dang good team using almost zero of those type of guys.
Edit: Juancho is another of those types of guys. 6 foot 9 and can kind of do everything a little bit. Not sure he can handle to ball though. Never watched him play prior to the jazz but liked a lot of what I saw with the jazz. Just checked his stats. He was 51% from the field and 44% from 3!! He might have been the most efficient player on the team. That surprised me a bit. Pretty good rebounder too over his career.
Maybe but that’s part of the knock on him. Hakeem also had just a reliable predictable move that was unstoppable and I think that is part of my belief in him.I think Embiid is that good. He's just been banged up pretty severely and has always had questionable teammates.
