Haas wasnt even good in college, a game still relatively friendly to big men. Top 10 picks back then still had to be proven as 4 year players.
Or be 7'6" tall.

Haas' team won 30 games and he averaged 16 ppg so he wasn't totally awful.

Haas is a rock solid 7'2" 290 - he has the biggest calves that I've ever seen on a 7 footer other than Yao. Those measurement alone would have gotten him drafted in the first round in the 80's and 90's when it was a back to the basket game.
The list of "never will be" big men drafted in the top 10 or lottery is endless - Luc Longley, Eric Montross, Michael Olowakandi, Sean Bradley, Steve Stipanovich, Yinka Dare, Todd Fuller....that's literally off the top of my head.
A big guy like Haas coming out of a big program like Purdue during the Gene Keady era would have definitely went high.
Would a 'Greg Oden' type still go No. 1 in today's NBA?
