As bad as these stupid laws are, we are still much more morally superior to god awful civil liberty cess pools like China and Iran.

reaally in china and iran the goverment controls the censorship. but with sopa private companies control the censorship wich is worse?

also censoring. removing child porn of the internet is not the way to go. because the damage is already done to the victim.
in the uk they have some censorship laws for child pornography. problem with it is it cost money. money that could be better spent on preventing or locking away child ponography(ers). the "censorship just hides the problem. even if there was a sure fire way of stopping the exchanging child pronography on the internet. they would still find a way to exchange there stuff offline. and imagine all that money lost on trying to censor it.
that money could be spent on prevention or even "therapy" after the fact.

one of the problems these days is insteed of solving the problem we dwe do syptom prevention. thats the lazy medical way(what doctors have been doing lately)

While I don't like censorship of any form, the type that even that bill proposed dwarfs the draconian level of censorship that's in those two countries. It's not even close.

Remember, money is more important than morality. Where there is a dollar, there is a way. Even if that way is completely unconstitutional.

If you could find a way for someone to make money by stopping child porn, or convince someone that every child porn exchange on the web might potentially be stealing a millionth of a penny from them, then they would find a way to stop it.

I doubt it. As abhorrent as it is, the market for it is too large out there and it's not a hard commodity to produce, unfortunate as that sick reality is. Even most of the sickos who trade it don't get any profit from it, they just get to keep satisfying their sick urges.

not even close yet. but as with anything it always happens in step. everytime it goes 1 step further and further and further.
its nog gonna go in 1 day from free internet to chinalike internet. the use thinks it's to free for that.
but by doin it step by step the people "will accept" it
