Nelson Mandela Dies

I think this thread was a success.

Funny you never addressed my points....

It's a little different having to back up your "Facts" against real life experience!!!!

It's easy to sit back and be an arm chair QuarterBack about the history of South Africa compared to being part if it and seeing the Minority treat the Majority like indentured servants and then have the gall and say but the Facts... The facts I'm just presenting the Facts!!! Well Facts don't tell the story, facts don't stop what was going to be the Bloodiest Civil War of the 20th century!!!!

Was bombing German cities in ww2 justifiable?

Still waiting on a proper response on this.

Is giving thousands of Iraqi civilians cancer from munitions containing depleted uranium justifiable?

That's the crappy thing about boards like this. Most people have their opinions and are not really going to be swayed by someone else, especially not if the other side is snarky like most of us are guilty of.

I really am curious as to what you would have had Lincoln do rather than what he did to abolish slavery? I personally am convinced that he was deeply committed to a just and equal treatment for all men, regardless of color (modern civil rights are a different issue than what he dealt with, IMO). I am also convinced that he did the right thing, no matter how many established rules he had to break in order for it to happen. The question I have is this; when would it have happened if not for Lincoln? And wouldn't waiting have been the morally reprehensible thing to do to the enslaved millions?
