SALT LAKE CITY (July 9, 2015) – The Utah Jazz announced today the team has signed guard Raul Neto (pronounced Hah-OOL Nett-oh) to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, financial terms were not released.
The Jazz acquired the rights to Neto, the 47th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the Brooklyn Nets’ 2015 second round selection on draft night in 2013.
The 6-1, 172-pound native of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, appeared in 34 games (23 starts) for Universidad Catolica De Murcia of the Liga ACP in Spain, averaging 8.9 points, 3.9 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 22.4 minutes per contest.
Neto competed at the 2014 FIBA World Cup as a member of the Brazil National Team, helping his squad to a 5-2 record and a sixth place finish. The point guard saw action in seven games, averaging 7.6 points, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 17.5 minutes per contest.
The 23-year-old was named MVP of adidas EUROCAMP 2013 and was a member of the Brazil National Team in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He was also a member of the U19 Brazil National Team in 2009 and 2011 and played at the 2011 Nike Hoop Summit as a member of the World Select Team.
